I'd say between 30 and 36 for the most consecutive longer distance shots, however I'll add that I've gotten some over 2,000 from outside that range bracket. I did get one especially good shot from a very high angle, but haven't gotten another since. Firing with a absolute minimum 3/4ths to full power is suggested too. ;)

Its all pretty much guess work as everything in the game is randome. Here is a basic on theory on the game.

If you use a high angle you will get more height but less velocity.
If you use a low angle you will get less height but more velocity.

The only thing you can rely on is luck.

hehe this would be a summary of it:

"Everything is random in the game so choosing an angle doesn't matter. Also the angle and "power" determines speed and velocity; the only trick is:..... luck" ;)

...exactly...everything is random i believe...although I must say that I got best results (1500-2200 -- cause the only one that went longer was that record jump) between 12-19 and 29-35 degrees....my opinion is that lower is better...cause in the case that kitty misses maybe first 2 or 3 explosives or rockets...it still wont lose that much speed....as it would if you had higher starting angle...so more chances with lower angle and higher speed...but thats my opinion....and like I said...I tried maybe 200-300 (or more) times...and in some 65% of cases only manage to throw it some 400-1800ft...then next 34% were under 400ft....and remaining 1% were more than 1800ft...luckily one went far beyond that....but I am still sure that it's still beatable...cause like I already said...some guy in some other site (dont remember which one so dont ask, haha) had a record of 4100+ft....and that probably isnt a best worldwide achievement for this game...so Good Luck and never give up....I played it for almost a week to get that far...so it was hard work....but if you decide to go for it...you must never give up....thats all there is to say about it....all secrets revealed... :-D ;)

Holy cow johnie thats a lot of wording to explain a completely random game lol... the pint is that this game takes some decent angle and timing , but 99.99% of it is just pure luck as all of you have already mentioned.

HAHAHAHAHA...ROTFL...I just have time to explain...thats all...hahahahah....werty316 knows me and my essays...  :p

All-in-one...is as you all said...TOTALLY RANDOM GAME...and you may play 1000's of them and not being able to throw it more than 1000ft....but then....next game can be totally opposite...@ 4000ft+...just never give up...thats all! ;)
