The 7300GT looks like a really great alternative for anything below a 7600GT. The price is supposed to be right, although you can never tell until it hits NewEgg...
Just check out the specifications on the SGate V7303GT21 though. 500mhz core, 1ghz DDR3 memory, 256mb, 128bit interface... If that one disabled quad can be reactivated that would be a mid-range card worth getting!

whoa, thats a slick-looking and pretty amaizing performing card for a mid-range, what a difference compared to the lame 7300gs cards before, ive always went for mid-range cards and maybe this will be one of my next choices if i ever need an update for a value rig, not that mine now isnt  thats quite a nice heatsink for a mid-range card, why???

7300GT is the still a low end card in my view. How many pipes and vertex shaders does a 7300 have, 4 pipes and 3 vertex shaders?

in my view its the same, the features on the 7300GT are almost the same as an fx5500oc, i think that whoever uses pci-e will use the power of it to the fullest, unlike just buying a low-end card for a high end I/O interface.

I don't think the 7300GT won't have 12 pixal pipes and 5 vertex shaders like the 7600GT has. The core is 500Mhz while the 7600GT is 560MHz and the 7300GT memory is at 1.0GHz while the 7600GT is at 1.4GHz so I don't think it compares to the 7600GT. I think the 7300GT is a low-midrange while the 7600GT is a midrange.

agreed, the 7600GT is a bit higher and better than the 6600GT and as in the 6 series in comparison to the 6 and 7 series, ezuivelant to a slightly juiced up 6200oc...
the 6600Gt is to 7600GT as the 6200oc is to the 7300GT, i hope you understand what i mean. the two lowest end cards for both the 7 and 6 series...
kind of like an upgrade from the 6200 to the 7300.

Yep every card has a predecessor that takes it place but the 7300GT is not in the same class as the 7600GT. The 7600GT is the bare minimum for gaming.

no what i meant that the 7600 is the successor for the 6600 and that the 7300 was the successor for the 6200

lol I completely didn't say. It has twice that, a full 8 pipes, with a disabled quad that if reactivated would turn it into a 7600GS or better. I can't find hard info on the vertex shaders, but it does 8 pixels per clock. The kicker is that this card is supposed to retail for about ~$70 to $80 for what I've been reading, but that remains to be seen. At least double the performance of a 7300GS part due to the hardware differences, because the 7300GT is just a 7600GS card with one less quad activated.

That article doesn't mention anything about it having 8 pipes but it does infact have 8 pipes.

Who knows if the disabled pipes and shaders can be unlocked but most likely they will be hardware disabled.

The first article on the 7300GT mentions it comes with 8 pipelines, which is also hyperlinked from the first sentence of the article I posted ;) Even if it can't be unlocked, the specs are matched for a very good performance for what it is. Hopefully it'll still keep that ~$70 price tag it was first thought to be getting...
