I haven't... although now that Beta 2 is released there oughta soon be some reviews showng up somewhere. This is a good alternative though if you are concerned about how well Vista will run on your machine, I plan on trying it out if just for fun myself and to see how well it actually runs on my PC.

On May 23, 2006, Microsoft will finally ship Windows Vista Beta 2, and it will soon thereafter make this release available to the public via a Consumer Preview Program (CPP), whereby computer enthusiasts or anyone who's interested can order a free copy of Beta 2 on DVD and install it on their own computers.

Even if the Vista was out what could you benchmark it with?

How about anything that runs on it, or better yet the same programs that you already use? Enough of the programs I use will port directly over, or offer new beta builds for Vista beta 2 to use.

For gaming benches I don't think 3dmark will run on Vista. Doesn't a program need to be compatible with Vista? See it like this XP nVidia display drivers won't work on Vista so you need Vista compatible display drivers.

You just illustrated the entire point of my first post. ;)

Edit: I'll add that I wouldn't care about 3dmark06 because my hardware gets about a 600 point score with it. I don't follow "synthetic" bechmarks because they are only sometimes a good indicator for real values. I am interested only in the games I still sometimes play, which play great incidentally, but for the most part my little collection of software I've managed to accrue.

Quite a few major software manufacturers (Such as what I use for AV, McAfee) offer free beta products for Vista. When I get Vista I'll download the free McAfee Antivirus Enterprise 8.0i beta for Vista, not to mention for everything else as well. I expect a few things to not work, a few non-Vista apps to work, and a few of the beta Vista apps to not work either, but it'll be fun to play with regardless... completely for free. ;)
