View Full Version : XFX Promotion - A bad taste!

To XFX Support. I went out on a limb to buy my first XFX video card early on - April 3 - and you wont honor an early purchaser with the Tomb Raider game because you cut me off by a stupid week.
My question is why for those of us who supported your company early on arent rewarded with the Tomb Raider game.
It really leaves a bad taste in my mouth and will probably never purchase an XFX product again over this issue - this one stupid thing your doing tells me alot about your company. If and when I go with a second 7900gt, it will not be with XFX. In fact, Im thinking of using your so called dual warranty to sell my card on ebay and go with another vendor.
This is all due to your stubborness and insensitivity to users who supported you early on!

I don't understand what you meant by this part of your comment. So XFX won't honor the free copy of Tomb Raider because you bought het 7900GT too early?

So what you're saying is they had clearly defind dates that they offered a free game to purchasers of their cards and because you bought your card out of that timeframe you're upset? The company should bend their rules just for you? What becomes a good cutoff date for them to extend their dates to? If they allow you to get a game when you bought your card a week out of their defined dates what's to prevent someone from wanting a free game since they bought their card only a day before you. Is a month acceptable? 2 months? Anyone that has ever bought an XFX card? Should they all get a free game?
Quit your whining..... Next thing you know you'll be posting to the lottery commision that you should be given the lottery jackpot because you're only off by 1 number.

chill chakka, you have something against this website or something? i can hear a ban coming along this is insulting behaviour against bjorn3d and XFX, this is just over some ganme ok? now chill man no offense, this is over a stupid game and is actually a laughing matter, XFX is one of the leaders in nvidia video cards and suggest you dont go with any other company, XFX is a great company and lots of my friends have enjoyed their cards themselves, not over a game. this isnt the place to insult XFX that can be done at your own time, im tired of these complainers and whiners that take things for granted and am honestly sick of your insults today at bjorn3ds contest and XFX.
EDIT: And as you said its one stupid thing, so get over it and move on, take your anger out on something else, and like XJnine said, you were past date so its only fair that XFX will not offer the product, i dont understand the whole point of this argument.

Yes I was whining and I'll quit.
However, the business Im in is so competitive we "always" bend for the customer because it has been tracked statistically that you develop a "loyal" following if you do.
The difference in this case is that I bought the card before the promotion, not after. I agree that if I bought after, I missed the promotion deadline and would not have posted this thread. My point in this is for early supporters in my business we always bend...period! The 7900 series is a brand new card and the introduction of the new card to the promotion date is only 1 month. I dont think that honoring customers who request the game between the time of the launch date and promotion date is going to cause a financial hardship for XFX.
So in reality I could have written this better to get my point across. Obviously 1 customer who complains wont affect the fortunes of XFX, but for everyone who complains, its the hundreds and thousands that dont complain and simply stop buying from the company.
Im just trying to get XFX to rethink its strick policy on this as well as its strick policy on its warranty. The problem with their warranty is that its for non overclockers and non modders. EVGA supports overclocking and modding of the heatsink/fan. So if your an overclocker/modder like me, I HIGHLY recommend you do not purchase XFX (unless they change their strick warranty) and purchase EVGA. If you dont overclock/mod, your safe with XFX and if you plan to sell later then the double warranty applies. I plan on making this a major disscussion point on the other forums Im on.
IMO, I think that XFX is very rigid and strick based upon my experience so far, and the rigidity in the time frames of the promotion supports my position on this issue as compared to EVGA. I am an an overclocker so I didnt fully understand XFX's warranty policy and should not have purchased XFX in the first place.
Btw, I have nothing against bjorn3d and appreciate the help I have received regarding XFX but should be able to express my opinion. If I get censored or banned for expressing my opinions, I would rather not be on this forum anyway.
Mousiness - its not up to you to decide who to ban or not - its Scott - lay off! So for your sake mousiness, I will stay off the rest of the forum and limit myself to the XFX support section only when I have issues with my XFX video card.

Chakka,
I do no want you to stay off. I know work is being tough on you right now, but I have always enjoyed your presence on the site. Please hang in there and feel free to write what ever you want.
I have only banned one person and that was a spammer. I like people to be able to come and speak there mind so all of you let each other do it. Sometimes people just need to vent and as long as it is not a direct attack on someone I have no problem with him venting here among friends.

I really dont care what everyone else thinks. You just dont get it and obviously you dont know how to read. Did you even read Scott's remarks? He makes the rules, not you.

I guess I wont know that since I wont be getting the game. Its not the point, it is XFX rigidity in its policies & warranties.

Thanks Scott. Its one of the reasons Ive stayed on Bjorn3d so far cause Ive been on sites where users get banned for speaking their mind. I have not flamed anyone, Im just bringing up points as I see them. I dont care if others dont like what I have to say, just debate my points on the merits...ie...xjnine doesnt believe companies need to go outside the promotion dates for its promotions. Thats the issue of this thread.

Glad to see you came back and replied when you were calmed down and with a level head.
Kudos to you.

No offense man, but most early adopters of any electronic product get screwed in one way or another... recent example -> 1st gen Xbox 360's with faulty/overheating issues... not exactly the same, but similar in that an early adopter may miss out on an improvement/package that will be offered by the manufacturer...

First off Mousiness you are the one who needs to chill.
Second this is BJORN3D NOT XFX please stop looking like stupid XFX sellouts and this is to everyone.
Chaka is expressing his opinion and this has nothing to do with stupid stupid random lottery number.
Not because bjorn3d is sponsored by XFX that we all have to look like little "Yes sir xfx is the BEST !!"
This is becoming ridiculous.
Stop sucking up.
Now this said I myself never ever had any problems with XFX
and have to disagree with Chaka on this.
I mean of course you bought the card early on and they came out with a promotion later on with a game.
But that would be like saying Man I bought my card at 599$ when it came out and a few days later 499$
Thats part of life chaka.
The enthusiasts always pay the price sadly.
But at least we get bragging rights :)
Just download it off the net :p
Hope everyone gets my point and wont hate me but it looks like as soon as someone says something about XFX you get those little fanboys jumping all over "BAN HIM BAN HIM !!!"
BTW Scott I liked your reply thats what I myself thought

i think freedom of speak as long as not to offend others is the main keystone to any forum .
so if chakka wont to complain about XFX it his his right and absoultly nobody business if XFX has any kind of reply they can put it here also.
but i agree with schwartz about buying high end cards early you usually pay more then other or miss on some deals
I think everyone may state their opinion and complain about anything they want, let alone, a XFX supported site where someone can hear and absorb his issues.
I think the reaction here was a bit nasty, but then, that's just me...
LTR Legend sucks anyway ... so why complain about it?
I disagree, I think Tomb Raider : Legend is a very fun and fast paced game, I just beat it a few days ago.
It looks great and has some very nice puzzles and action scenes.
It mimics the Prince of Persia games pretty good and as you can tell by my avatar, I LOVE the POP series...
To sum it up, everybody calm down and try to be less offensive...
;)

Sometimes pym you have to be blunt to get your point across...plus the written word can be mis-interpreted because everyone has their own writing style. I dont view my posts as offensive or nasty, just to the point. The point that Im making about XFX is a series of observations about the rigidity of policies and warranties. We would all be better off if XFX werent so rigid.
Btw, thanks schwartz for your comments. I usually dont get personal with forum users unless they get personal with me first.
As far as getting on message, would you not agree that if XFX were to be inclusive in its promotion from the launch date of the 7900 series to the promotion date (about 1 month but no more than 2) - wouldnt users interested in the game (even those who arent but would appreciate the option) and who supported the company early on then have a "good" taste about dealing with them now and in the future?
IMO, XFX should really re-think about what they are doing to early adopters in this case. It doesnt matter what game it is, its the "lack of thought" about its early supporting customers versus "corporate policy" that bothers me.

Chakka,
One more thing to consider. Due to the agreement between XFX and the game publisher XFX may not be able to give you a copy of the game even if they wanted to. They didn't make the game, they just partnered with the distributor to include the game with some of their video cards. If they want to give something outside of their agreed contract with the game publisher it could potentially become a legal issue that would end up costing them more in lawyer fees to rewrite the contract than they would ever make in lost sales from upsetting early adopters.
There's more to it than XFX just sitting on an endless pile of games waiting to give them out. They are giving away someone else's product. Anything they do outside the negotiated contract with Eidos could be considered breach of contract. Is it likely to happen? No. But there's the potential and huge lawsuits for breach of contract are things that companies like to stay away from.

Well maybe this will make you all feel better. I asked my XFX guy for a copy of GRAW since it is shipping with some versions of the cards. He laughed and asked me if I was going to buy a card. The software must ship with the card is what I was told and he could not get me a copy.
So that is the deal with the publishers and all that stuffed is inventoried and tracked. So maybe that helps that even I got turned down.

Ok if it beyond the control of XFX, then this whole thread is moot.
Maybe next time XFX could negotiate a better deal and keep in mind its early adopters of these vid cards. Just my 2 cents.

As many have observed when we are approached by, or aproach a vendor for a promtion we have strickt guidlines we need to follow in order to offer any bundled software. In this event we request a specific amount of copies for the games in response to the number of registered buyers. I am sorry but if the specified device was not purchased within the timeframe of the promotion we are unable to offer you the bundled product.
