Hello i think u should sink all the HOT chips or component before u spoil your card. Try that first before u run any game. After that try to run the 3dmark06 deep freeze test n see u got any artifact or not then u post your result here again.

erm i already sink all my rams and chip, even using kuformula vf-1 plus cooler, idle at 41'c, load at 52'c , and no other games have problems.. except fear~~ arghh....

You may want to see if you power supply is big enough. FEAR is the game that pointed out to me that my was to small. I have heard of symptoms like your in the game with power being the problem. Sounds like you are right on the boarder line. If it was really not deliveing enough the machine would just shut off like mine did with my SLI cards.
You can go to a Circuit City or Best Buy and pick up a new one, take it home and try it out, if it does not fix the problem take it back and get your money back.

Try the other PCI-E power lead in case one of them is bad.

Can u downclock at bit for the card? Try to lower the ram to 1400 n the core to 450 n try out. The ram is rated at 700mhz max at the samsung website, so that might be the problem. Hope it will solve your problems.

i tried down clock, matter of fact no other games have problems as my card now idles at only 41 , load at 50'c, i'm using sytrin vf-1 plus.

Dear hwoarang5,
While this error is bad and very frustrating there are many reasons why you are receiving them. The first thing I would like you to try is to make sure the video card is the source. Having had this one myself i found it to be that i had a broken pin on my CPU. Does this means the card is not at fault? Not necessarily. Please try and test the card in another system if possible for the same behavior. If it persists then the common thread is the card and it may need to be replaced. If not then there may be another source of the error like a conflict with a TV tuner card or the incorrect chipset drivers on the mainboard. I would like the opportunity to help you resolve this with our techs at www.xfxforce.com => support=> help desk so that if we need to we can get your card working or replaced.

**UPDATES**
there is no problem with other games , only FEAR, my card are the new vivo limited edition not ta old stock and doesnt have any defect seen in the previos ones...
the problem is 100% confirm with my dual core opteron 165.
i tested with a new venice 3200+, it works flawlessly.....

here some people also facing ta problems, nvidia grahpic driver seems still not fully stablise with the dual core patch. and games patch from fear also never covers this problems. as all other games have no BSOD,
nowonder i wasnt having problems with my 6800gs, with my dual core tat time ta driver i use was before 80.x series, no dual core optsimise yet...i tried disable it still no go....arghh...
any opteron dual core user with 7900gt? any advise which driver to use?
thx

I don't have a dual core but I have an AMD 3000+(1.8GHz) S939. I don't have FEAR istalled anymore but when I did it ran fine when my CPU was overclocked to 2.2GHz. One fthing though is I don't have a 7900GT.

Am I spamming? No. You asked which drivers to use and I just suggested the new betas so calm down.

www.nzone.com is a good place to go for the latest released beta drivers from NVidia. Also is it possible that F.E.A.R. may be having a hyperthreading issue? Try using the task manager to set the affinity to one processor and this may help. The way this is done is to start the application (F.E.A.R.) and then quickly alt+tab out of the game and get into the teak manager and set the affinity to one processor (CPU). Also here are a few forum links to people who have had some issues with the AMD dual core that may give you some guidance with your Intel Dual core CPU.

Doesn't matter, dual-core is dual-core as far as the solution posted is concerned. Have been hearing alot about people having to set games to use only one core... :???:

thanks guys, but i have tried everything as i already mention, dual core patch, disable, enable, registry disable grahpic dual core optimisation, game patchs, cpu infinity, u name it, i have done it.... still BSOD
only solution is when i plug in my spare cpu, venice 3200+, i got to play it smoothly for hours and no hang or any BSOD....
god sake.... what a spot i'm in.... argh....

Well... then the problem is not your video card. It has to be something with your dual-core CPU.
I would have to agree with XFX's support guy... I would bet there is a driver someplace that isn't updated for X2 compatibility...
I don't think the topic of your BIOS has been brought up yet? Nor the exact make/model of your motherboard... First make sure the revision # off of your board is current enough for dual-core CPUs, then update to the most recent BIOS if you've not already done so very recently.
And you are running Windows XP, right?

Half the forums I am a member of don't allow images in sigs :p
As I suspected the board came out before Athlon X2s were released, but they claim the BIOS updates enabled support for 'em so I guess that is not it... unless it just doesn't like your Opteron. ;)
Are you able to test your Opteron in another system?

just tested a few dual core cpu,
and i have some conclusion on the cause BSOD, i'm 100% sure its the conflict between forceware driver and amd's dual core drivers.
and this only applies to dual core opteron, i tried x2 (3800, 4400) both no problems, while opteron 165 and 170 i tried, produce BSOD in FEAR, once i run single core cpu, its A-okay,
i have waited for either amd or nvidia to come up with a better patch or FEAR also, but no luck, so i'm changing my cpu this week, sick and tired of it, going to get myself either x2 or fx.

Dont know if this makes you feel any better but I have a Sparkle 7900gt with a SINGLE core processor (AMD64 3000+ @2.5ghz) that does exactly the same thing in FEAR. 3DMark 2003 gives me BSOD, but 3DMark 2005 does not. Weird, Hey. Im guessing its a driver issue from trawling the internet for answers. Have you resolved your issue yet?

KEEP ON TOPIC! This is the XFX Support Forum, and your posts you have something relevant to this thread.
Avkdm, I have a 7900GT VIVO that gives similar issues as the topic starter mentioned. I am trying everything I can think of to see if it is a hardware issue, or a software issue. So far it is inconclusive.

Google is a wonderful thing..............
It is strange that at the moment only FEAR (games) on my sytem is affected by this. Oblivion,BF2, NFS all seem to be OK but others have reported problems. Might try the new NVIDIA 91.47 driver and see if this helps. By the way I did a clean install of an older driver 84.15 from 91.31 and this made no difference. It seems that specific hardware combos create problems. My colleague bought exactly the same card a week earlier from the same company, but with a core2 duo setup and had no problems in games. he did however have overclocking probs with the card (coolbits) and installed the latest driver and that fixed it. I will let you know how I go. This problem has plagued users for years.
p.s. my 6600gt (agp)has no problems with this setup. I have an Asrock 939DS2 which allowed me to upgrade to PCI express.

Driver was the problem for anyone that is interested. 91.47 worked.
Updated to dual core processor (X2 4200+) and started having problems again. Narrowed it down to AMD dual core optimizer driver and Microsoft Dual core Hotfix
Moral of the Story: Official latest drivers not necessarily a good thing unless you are having problems
