"RBC Capital Markets industry trackers believe microprocessor manufacturer could be picking up the graphics-card maker."

Consider the possibilities.... WHOA.

Just FYI, I posted this here (http://www.bjorn3d.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8509)... with a link to the Dailytech article ;)

One possibility that I see is both of the entire graphics & chipset markets getting completely upended, but such a "partnership" would be pretty interesting.

nVidia already bought up ULI, which had been showing some strong promise as a chipset manufacturer, which was able to produce low cost but feature rich and very high performance chipsets, including SLI.

If AMD buys/integrates ATI though, that'd certainly one-up their respective rivals... Intel would be unable to follow this due to a myriad of litigation/legal concerns, and nVidia would be facing some serious challenges in their primarily AMD-based chipset market...

I already did see mention of DFI offering a integrated graphics motherboard with a upcoming ATI chipset... and I should mention the integrated GPU would be a x700 core, which isn't to shabby really!

That wasn't my intention. :p I just wanted to point out I'd already previously posted this, and also link to the Dailytech article as well for Tomato or anyone else that is interested in the topic. :paw:
