HIS introduces x1 PCIe, HDMI and AGP/PCIe hybrid Radeons (http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=2762)

Users that want an AGP graphics upgrade but fear incompatibility when building a new PCI Express based system may be interested in another new HIS product. The new HIS X1600 Pro Dual DVI Dual Interface card offers compatibility with PCI Express and AGP equipped systems. The ATI Rialto bridge chip provides AGP compatibility while a couple of internal switches allow the switching between PCI Express and AGP interfaces.

ROFL... Why would you make a PCI/AGP hybrid card? The PCIe/AGP hybrid above makes much more sense, not to mention has a huge market to draw from!

If a x1600Pro was all I wanted performance-wise I'd buy that card soon as it came out, and keep this system around till at least Kentsfield rolled into town...

That PCI/AGP card came out in 1998. Back then AGP was still relatively new. Same theory as the newer card but it had to deal with different tech back then. Of course there was no PCIe in 1998....

Ah, sorry. I completely missed the date on that and assumed it was another recent Computex highlight. That makes complete sense now...

Ironic thing is... you can still use PCI graphics cards all you want, AGP has come and is going, and PCIe is here. I may build a Conroe system and use a Matox Mystique in it for awhile, until my credit card can recover at least ;)

guys i seriously need to know when that pci-e x1 card will be out, and as for that hybrid card... WTF, wont the dust from the inside of the pc get into the outputs for the DVI and S-video for the unused side of the card? so lame and pci-e came out a year ago and it doesnt cost much, it was needed more from the rough transition from pci to agp
