Well I'v got a BFG Geforce 7800 GT OC, never OCed beyond BFG's 425MHz core, 1.05GHz RAM. Well, I started a visualitization in WMP, when playing http://www.neopian-hosting.com/~coolguy/Background.wma .

Well, it started artifacting like hell, as you can see in the photo.

No, only when I have media center or WMP vis.

Does every visualization do this or just the one you mentioned?

Looks like you have some messed up programs, if it plays games and all ok, it's just a software issue. I had problems like that when my ram was unstable.
If it just all of a sudden started and games play ok, reload media center and WMP.l

Yeah if your card runs fine with everything else then the problem is app related.

But, then why didn't this happen when I had my 7900 GT? Also, it happens in Google Earth, WMP, and Media Center.

Different card plus not all cards will produce the same results. You can RMA it if you are worried.

Just to check, you made sure to remove and reinstall your current drivers when you switched cards, right?

I'd have to agree with Sbrehm though, sounds more like a software thing. You can always download and try ATI Tool, and see if it is detecting artifacts after 20 minutes of running. If you card passes that I'd highly doubt it's the card itself is the problem.

I don't have a ATi card!

Well, I didn't reinstall the driver, but he told my to use the 84.43 beta drivers. Hope for the best. :(

ATiTool works with Nvidia cards with it's latest version...............I use it to check my 7900GT............;)

I tried it, and it crashed even before opening the window. :(

I'd try removing your old drivers, then run DriverCleaner to remove all traces of the old driver software, and then reinstall the new drivers. It sounds like you have parts of the old driver mixing with the new, that will never work right.

Run 3dmark05 and 3dmark06 in loops and see if it shows artifacting.

Well that is the problem! When you change out your video card you MUST completely remove and reinstall your drivers. Video drivers are extremely complex and are tailored to work with only the card installed on your system at the time of installation.

I don't think he meant he had an ATI card. Since the app "ATI Tool" was mentioned he might of thought it can only be used for ATI cards ;) hence: I don't have a ATi card!

I'm not sure what you are getting at Werty... no one said nor implied that he did have an ATI card ;) I did not clarify that the new beta of ATI Tool works with any card out there because Sbrehm already pointed this out.

Exactly the same artifacts-texture i get on my oc'd ATI X1900XT when in a game on idle for 10 minutes. Exit and then relaunch the game fixes it (no need for Windows reboot).
Surely overheating is not the cause (because 87 degrees Celsius is far from overheating). IMHO, i think it has to do with the overclocked frequencies producing a conflict, no damage-threatening problem, just a phenomenon.
My X1900XT overclock is simply done by the ATI Overdrive (result: core = 689 / mem= 770), nothing else, so completely safe... :)

[EDIT. Now i remember, i saw exactly the same phenomenon on my previous card 7800GT playing Need For Speed Most Wanted, also overclocked (using the Registry hack provided on the XFX cd), although that occurred while gaming, so before idle situation.]

try cleaning ur video cards dust. my friend had a problem like that with his x800xl. he was getting that same stuff on the screen. a good can of compressed air saved his machine.
