CHIP FIRM AMD has kicked into price cuts today by slashing prices on 939 and AM2 sockets.
Distributor prices seen by the INQ show that the Athlon 64 3000 will cost $89, the 3200 $99, the 3500 $109, and the 3800 $139. In the last case, that's a 50 per cent drop. All socket and AM2 sockets are rebated, we understand from sources close to AMD Asia.

Well all I know is the AM2's have been slashed, and without rebates. The entire AM2 processor line of Athlon 64s costs between $95 through $148 right now without rebates and on multiple sites. I stuck links in the AMD Price-Wars thread...

Now when they finally get around to slashing the old or new X2s... :)

That's what I'm still waiting for, but I bet the E-tailers are going to hold out as long as they can to make all the cash that they can.

Take off $100 off a dual core and I will be happy ;)
