Are your network card drivers installed? Go into your deice manager and look for any hardware with an exclamation mark. See anything listed?

Didn't he talk you through about installing drivers? lol good friend you have there lol
Install the nForce4 drivers that came with your motherboard.

How do you connect to the internet? I assume this is XP Home or Pro? Do ya use dial-up, cable modem, or dsl router? Any routers? Any other computers that are infact able to get on the internet?

Drivers/BIOS should not be the reason why you are not getting an internet connection on that new a board... but here is the BIOS update page for your motherboard, along with the BIOS and other update utilities: http://support.asus.com/download/download_item_nn.aspx?model=A8N-SLI&product=1&f_name=&type=&SLanguage=en-us (http://support.asus.com/download/download_item_nn.aspx?model=A8N-SLI&product=1&f_name=&type=&SLanguage=en-us)

Actually Kougar, if he uses ADSL and a normal ethernet he might need the drivers for the integrated network card before being able to conenct to the net. I know most of my mobos need the drivers installed first.

So I definiely recommend making sure the network driver has been installed.

You're right SwedBear, I made a mistake...

To avoid crashing file system, please do update the chipset driver before updating Bios version 1010 or later
USA DL LINK: http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/utils/nvidia/Chipset_WINXP32_V665.zip

Asus uses a neat "EZ Flash Utility" that takes care of updating the BIOS for you.

1) Extract all the files in the ZIP file to a floppy disk.
2) Restart your PC.
3) Press "Alt" and "F2" together during POST.
4) This should take you to the "EZ Flash Utility" screen.
5) Insert the floppy disk in to your PC.
6) Press "Enter".
7) The BIOS should now update it self.

would a cd work to?

Some of Asus's older boards support this, so I would assume yes for yours. You might have to enter the BIOS and make sure it is set to boot off the CD before the hard drive though if it does not automatically...

You don't have a floppy drive?

I think the EZ Flash Utility only checks for a floppy drive. You can just test out the EZ Flash Utility without actually flashing a bios, Just press "Alt+F2" together during POST. Setting your PC to boot off a CD won't work unless the CD is bootable.

Another way to flash the BIOS is in windows.
