a bad driver can turn an otherwise stable system into a nightmare.

To help put an end to this, Microsoft is turning to a Driver Quality Rating (DQR) system that it hopes will motivate both OEMs and device manufacturers to increase their commitments to driver quality.
i couldnt agree more

LOL, now we can have patches for our patches.... :( If M$ doesn't get it right the first time, they should hold it back until it's fixed.

This isn't about Microsoft's own patches... this is about creating some better oversight for that little company that made that webcam you can't find drivers online for... so when you install what you have or DL the only driver for it available online that this little no-name company created themselves and nuke your OS, MS can try to do something about it. Or in the very least users can check these drivers ahead of time and see the ratings.

Random BTW, anyone want a really, really old Parallel port based webcam? It works excellent with Windows XP Pro, I'll even guarantee it*...

*Guarantee applicable for 4 seconds after launch of the webcam driver only. No warranty after this period of time is given nor implied. Cannot be held responsible for intentional installation of this software by individuals with the sole purpose of completely disabling Windows XP based systems.
