Hmm, so much for having a great 17 hours of playback time on my Sandisk mp3 player! Prices are not bad, although you can get a 4gb flash mp3 player with either a 4 line LED display, or a full color LCD display like an iPod video for $150. But I guess you'd recoup the higher costs in AAA battery savings in short order... :-D

It's an interesting time when battery life trumps storage capacity

Mobiblu has previously come to the market with such novelties as the tiny DAH-1500i “Cube” player which wowed consumers with its small size and relatively affordable pricing. The company is now touting its latest digital audio player (DAP) which in certain conditions is capable of over 170 hours of continuous playback according to an about.com review of the device. The B153 hosts a large feature set, which includes:
World's Longest Battery Life Playback Time (over 150 Hours)
OLED Display
FM Tuner, FM Recording
Voice Recording w/Built-In Microphone
Line-In Encoding
SRS WOW High Definition
SRS and TruBass Sound Enhancement
USB 2.0
Pivot Display (Rotate Display 180 degrees)

And to prove that the 170 hours usage claim wasn’t a fluke, a quick search showed that the folks over at CNET were also able to extract some rather impressive run times out of their review sample. CNET reviewers were able to get just shy of 147 hours out of their 512MB unit. While that’s not quite as high as the 170 hour watermark, it’s within striking distance of the 153 hour claim posted by Mobiblu (and hence it’s B153 namesake). It’s also over three times the run time of its nearest competitor, the Samsung YP-MT6.

The Mobiblu B153 supports MP3, WMA and WMA DRM audio formats so you shouldn’t have a problem carrying your existing music collection along (that’s unless you’re moving from one of those “iPod” music players that I keep hearing about). The device comes in 512MB, 1GB and 2GB varieties and is priced at $89.00, $99.00 and $129.99 USD respectively. The only drawback to the enormous battery life is that fact that it's hard to hold 7 days worth of music with 2GB of storage.
