Here is a video of a robot riding a skateboard, some roller skates, and playing: http://www.plen.jp/movie.html

Pretty funny. Don't recall iRobot having those skills.

Gee Gibson, aren't we holding little toy robots to a high standard. It's an experimental robot, not Tony Hawk!

Still take a look at some robot fighting: http://hosted.filefront.com/DasCapitolin/1636661

that's indeed pretty cool, the wrestling moves are funny and cool at the same time! Any idea what the brownish stick is in the other video (they keep it in front of one of the two), it probably isn't a piece of chocolate right?
Concerning the skating, you're right i am a bit demanding ;-) I'd love to see one do a kickflip though, that'd be awesome!

One day, they will be doing kickflips. The day after that they will be doing our jobs. I am in no hurry for those kickflips.

I remember the judges moving some of the robots with a stick.

It's more of something that attracts the robot, they hold it in from of him and he walks right to it. Maybe it's some kind of radiotransmitter, or a simple stick that he's been learned to recognise.

Oh, that stick! That particular robot walks towards a certain color. His first opponent was that color. His second was not.

As long as they don't become self-aware in the future, welcome robots.

Those were awesome!!! The skating robots looked like they would be cool play with, but then watching the file spot073, with the red robot in it made me think that was even sweeter.

Thanks for posting, I know what I want for Christmas!!! ;)

I'm not sure, but I think those robots fighting were custom builds? Any idea about that Das Capitolin?

The robots in the fighting tournament, as well as the one skating, are all custom prototype builds. Thats not to say you cannot purchase them, but they won't be at Toys'R'Us.
