Do you presently have an SLI configuration of video adapters?

I've said it before, and I'll copy'npaste again! I still don't see a point to paying twice the cash for at aboslute best case scenario of 1/2 to 2/3 again the frame rates. Usually you're lucky to get even half, I think.

I don't think anyone does, not even Scott anymore. SLi is good down the road when you wanna add another card but by that time newer technology is out like DX10.

I didn't think anyone would be using it. But lets see who eventually marks "yes" in the poll.

I agree that it is a waste of money and hardware.

Unless a person is rich of course.
Whoa Deja vu.

There are a few gamers in my BF2 clan that use SLI 7900GTX's. Apparently a video game is worth the thousands spent to play it.

Deja vu times 2. 8)

Do you ever ask them why they got SLi? Bragging rights, rich or because they lost their brains?

I think it has to do with the 200+ FPS they get with absolutly everything on high settings.

You can laugh at them when they can't play Crysis set to DX10.

I laugh at them now, because they have no life; just an expensive SLI computer with a limited life span.

Hahahaha...nicely explained guys...

I also dont see any positive stuff in SLI...exept for maybe 30% higher FPS...and for what?....for twice the price...surely not a great deal...far away actually... People who buy it must be either rich (mad? - hahaha...just remember of our madman contest...hahahahah...so it's a chance that some of our madmans will actually become SLI fans in the future...who knows!? )....and/or one of those hardcore enthusiasts who really "must" have all the latest stuff...and dont care much whether they'll need to throw it (or $$$) out the window right next day... :???: Who cares...I am not one of them...and even if I had all that money to spend...I would surely spend it more wisely...but thats me...and its up to each individual to decide what he/she wants...

You would still get another 7800GT even with DX10 on the horizon?

nope, don't have the budget for sli.

If they only cost 100$ at that time, why not? Have you taken a look around at how much people are still gaming with their geforce 2 mx?

I don't think they are gaming hardcore since you really can't run anything on a GF2MX let alone DX9 games.

You would be surprised... there are quite a few die-hards playing with those cruddy cards for both Counterstrike and Starfleet Command, in all four of it's incarnations no less. And these aren't the only games some of them play...

I know im a little late to chime in but sli is an absolute requirement for me as i game on a rather large monitor and i like everything maxed out. Das is my crosshairs at 1900 x 1600 makes it all worth it. And uhhhh that happens on a regular basis.

LIAR!!!

Actually, my TWL 2v2 Armor team suffered it's first loss. I fired my APC partner, which I didn't want to do, but he played using an old Radeon 9200 and could barely play or see anything.

So in about two months I will have a nice Core 2 Duo system and run SLI with the NV Silencers, and Absolut352 will be a soft squishy body beneath my tank. 8)

In all truth I wasn't trying to participate; but it seems you are still upset so we won't discuss this. Also, keep in mind that I had planned on being in this month's contest.

On to the subjet: SLI is not something I would ever invest in, but since I won the cards to do it, why not?

I wouldn't wan't a 100-room house either, but if it was given to me...

Getting 6600GT SLi is a big waste of money.

A 6600GT is definitely not worth buying for SLI, unless he can get it for $15 or less, seriously. For the price of a 6600GT it's only a small step higher to grab a 7600GT that can outperform a 6800GT/GS easily.

Yup, I agree with both Kougar and werty... at this point your friend should take Kougar's advice and grab a 7600GT at this point, or wait it out until Vista and DX10 are released... but if your friend got a 7600GT, a mobo upgrade might be in order as well...

Actually, this is what the Antec sales/tech help guy said when I called them up and asked a few questions about the NeoHE line of PSUs... I distinctly got the impression he thought I was another random person that didn't have a clue what they were talking about.

A few mos ago I would have never thought to go SLI. But when I built the UltraBlu and "near silence" was one of the goals I looked into the 7600GS video cards. I had been using (and very happy with) a HIS X800GTO IceQ card.

I started to think that 1 of the 7600gs may be a little weak so I figured for about $100 more I could go SLI. I am VERY happy I did. My main Screen is 1024 X768 so ultra hi res is not an issue. When I ran 3Dmark05 with 1 card I got about 4800 but when I enabled SLI it jumped to 8800. Using the simple OC in the Nvidia program and OCing them 50mhz more it jumped to 9100 in 3DMark05.

I am no wiz when it comes to benchmarks but when I play games I do notice a difference in quality. Oh yea the other reason, SLI looks COOL...
