Do you presently have an ATI CrossFire configuration of video adapters?

I've done enough copy'npasting on my feelings for SLI/Crossfire... However I will say that if ATI can turn the GPU into a second "CPU", for things like physics or especially folding@home work then I would suddenly have a much larger interest in a Crossfire setup... It'd be rather interesting to run three x1600Pros on a 965P motherboard tag teamed with a Conroe processor, all four of which doing folding@home work. Just as one example... ;)
I just used x1600Pros in my example, because NewEgg has one going for $50 right now...

Nope, and don't really see a need for my everyday use. Maybe down the road though.

No CrossFire for me... I tend to flip flop between manufacturers... Started out with NVidia, got turned onto ATI for awhile, but now I'm back again to NVidia... CrossFire has its potential, but the cost-to-performance ratio doesn't really make it worth it for me. It's basically just for bragging rights :P

I don't even have an ATi card so the obvious answer is no.

I didn't think anyone would be using it. But lets see who eventually marks "yes" in the poll.
I agree that it is a waste of money and hardware.

Unless a person is rich of course.

There are a few gamers in my BF2 clan that use SLI 7900GTX's. Apparently a video game is worth the thousands spent to play it.

Do you ever ask them why they got SLi? Bragging rights, rich or because they lost their brains?

For $100 you can have a x1600Pro Crossfire setup, so it's all relative. While this probably still won't get you very far for gaming, it'd be great for any sort of crunching work that makes use of the GPU. Folding@home work should just be the start of programs utilizing the GPU for number crunching, especially as ATI finalizes their physics plans.

I don't think I could find two (brand new) X1600 Pro PCIe cards for under $100. Please post a link, and I might consider giving it a try.

I don't think I would buy them just to "Fold".

Now yer going to think I made it up... I looked twice but I no longer see any x1600 model card going for the $49.99 price after MIR that was there previously. Spotted it previously when I was wading through NewEgg's PCIe cards trying to sell my friend on upgrading his x300, so he can actually play HL2.1 ;) 640by800 is to much for his current card... ZZF has a stock OCed PNY 7600GT for $130 shipped though...
Didn't I would buy one just to fold either... but I was trying to say if I can put it to use for other things, then I'd have been interested in it. Once we start offloading physics (and sound, since that is also high on ATI's list) off the CPU and onto the GPU, then what's to stop the sudden onrush of anything being offloaded onto a GPU? It couldn't do everything, but it can do some things extremely well instead...

I knew it was too good to be true. There goes all of the Folding I had planned, too.
But seriously, if you found two CrossFire capable cards for under $100 total, that would be the find of all time. That is damn cheap.

Well, I voted "Yes" :). But then again I also do SLI with a pair of 7900GTX. I'm not sure I would do SLI or Crossfire if I didn't got the stuff for free. The performance gain in some gains can be huge but not necessarily in all games. And most games run fine on a X1900XTX or 7900GTX anyway.
Actually a card that to me is more interesting is the 7950GTX2 (or what the heck it was called) that has two GPU's on the card. SLI without the hassle of two cards.

Yeah the 7950 is cool beans. I love it, will see how Quad works this week when the other card shows up. Monitor will be here today so I can get ready.

Used Crossfired X1600 Pro's. Nothing extraordinary, but definitely a better choice than single X1600

Make sure to vote in this poll! So far there are only two "yes" votes, and there have been more of you who have already said you have it.

Nice! Post some pics of that sweet monitor when it's all set up (you jerk :P) ;)

Hopefully you won't have any issues with those Beta Quad-SLi drivers.
