I firmly believe that you should not be in a contest where the prize is something you already have or you have already won.

That list isn't so bad considering its from 2002 to now which is a long run to enter contests. If you think of the amount of contests in there are in that time and the ones I won, its not that much. Its like I said before, if there is a prize that is better than what I have now, I will enter.

Lets say for instance if I win the 7900GT this month, and if the prizes in the future are a 7900GT I am not gonna go out of my way to win since there is no use.

I don't think a user should be banned because they won a whole slew of prizes from another is wrong. I can't help I got lucky quite a few times.

Just to counter-point this, because I enjoy playing devils advocate. While I haven't been nearly as active in forums in that same time frame, I have entered nearly every drawing or online contest for computer hardware that I ran across but I've yet to win anything from them. Considering the odds involved in most of them this is no surprise to me. And I think the fact that I've only recently started following different forums closely is a large contributing factor as to why (As they seem to be the place to be for such things!), but it's still doesn't change the end result. Since I've seen ya just about everywhere except MadShrimps, I can understand that list though!

Most of the post on these forums are turning into pure CRAP anymore, and now I log in to find another post with people posting because of a forum contest.

Yawn, I'll go back to lurking in the background and see if there are any topics started that don't have to do with people crapping on a forum to score free hardware. I believe if some of you put as much effort into your jobs as you do to posting crap on forums *****ing about other people, perhaps you could log in to newegg.com and buy your own hardware.

Thanks, I've done pretty well over the years..........;) If I remember right, I won my first contest back in 02, so that's around 4 years worth of stuff and I still go to the sites where I won at if they are still around, sadly some of them are no longer with us.
On a side note, everything listed there is still in use either by myself or my son.............:) Except for the DD water cooling, I donated it back to the site for a future contest because I couldn't use it at the time.

I only found out about forums like this a short time ago...March in fact. A member over at CDU's forum posted a link to one of the contests. In fact, I believe it was a photo contest for some memory...about a gig of OCZ if I remember right. Anyway, I tried hard and went out of my way to win because I truly needed it but, no dice.
Anyway, I started to look around, clicked a few links and found a few more cool forums and contests. I was intent on making myself feel better about the loss.
In the short time that I've been joining. I've won the following.

Lifetime of free web hosting
2 bluegears 120mm fans (very nice...used with the Noctura)

I think that's it.

During that time I've met some really cool techs and learned much more about these boxes with the cool blinking lights.

Personally I don't see a problem with entering as many contest as you can find. The sites win because their goal is to get traffic. They get that. Members also advertise the site contest at other sites to generate more members for the forum and website. As you can see, I have posted many of these contest links over at my homepage.

At the risk of continuing off topic: Werty is correct. My poor excuse at a joke regarding winning a "free soda" wasn't just lame - it wasn't really in the spirit of "Contest Winnings".

Sure threads sometimes wander a bit, with secondary conversations springing up. But if you answer an off-topic post, you should really follow up with an on-topic portion.

For instance, Now that I've addressed that thought, I should go on an post my winnings. I have none, and therefore I shall cease to post here.
