What should i buy, a nvidia 590 or a Intel p965 for my new E6700????

I do love the nvidia, but dont really know how good the 965 or if 590 supports Quad core???

You are kind of comparing apples to pears here with that question... :)

Performance will be very close between the 965P and 590 SLI chipsets, so you should base your decision upon the feature set that both chipsets offer, and also the price gap. Off the top of my head, the 590 is supposed to be around $210 while the 965P is around $150ish...

If you go with the 965P board though, be careful to ensure you have IDE slots, some may not have any since Intel decided to leave support out for them... But this just leads me back to my earlier statement, comparing the feature sets... ;)

Edit: Here's a rundown on the nForce 590 SLI & 570 SLI Intel Editions http://www.nvidia.com/page/nforce5_specs_intel.html (http://www.nvidia.com/page/nforce5_specs_intel.html)

As for the 965P chipset, here's a more succinct chart http://images.anandtech.com/reviews/motherboards/abit/p965-ab9pro/intel965chipset.png (http://images.anandtech.com/reviews/motherboards/abit/p965-ab9pro/intel965chipset.png) and Intel's own rambling page on the feature set ;) http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/p965/ (http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/p965/)

if you are gonna run SLi for with the 590. If you are not gonna run SLi get a 965P board.

As far as Quad-SLi goes as long as a board has two PEG slots you can run Quad-SLi but nVidia first needs to make a driver enabling it.

Think i want crossfire, but i was thinking quad core not quad sli???

Oh wait I missed that; if you want crossfire getting the 590 would be impossible as you can't run Crossfire on an nVidia board. It has to be either a Crossfire chipset or Intel chipset that is Crossfire capable.

It sounds like the p965 for me then, but really like the nforce5. Just feels like the better choice

Its isn't since you want Crossfire.

Yeah kind of got that from your other post, and n590 probably never will support crossfire.

Kinda like when you posted this but said before you want Crossfire so why say this then?

And here we continue:S Okay ill sum up,,, So i should go with the 965 if i want ATI. so my next question is... If you dont mind... What company will make the better 965 boards and are there any good reviews on them... DFI perhaps?

I like MSI, Asus, and DFI.
Here a review of the MSI board.

The 965P boards are new so don't expect a whole lot of reviews. I couldn't really find any in google.

The MSI dosnt support RAM running 1066mhz then?

I don't any board from AMD or Intel officially support 1066MHz memory.

not even the 975x, i thought they did?

Intel's 975X chipset officially supports 1066mhz Front Side Bus speeds.

RD600 will at least support 1066mhz when it launches this fall... And the "refresh" of the 965 chipset within the first two or three months of 2007 will actually bring 1333mhz FSB support.

Here's another review of a 965P motherboard http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2789 (http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2789). Considering that the BIOS is still just a prototype I think that is a good performance showing by Abit...

But, if i'm to buy a new mobo at conroe launch or early august it wont be 1066Mhz?

I think the Conroe supports DDR2-800 (PC2-6400) when it is released.

Okay, then i wont worry, But will it come as a bios update? can they even do that or as a new board?

The 965P chip supports the Conroe and its 1066BFSB so you don't need a bios update.

Intel also made it a point to mention that by the time Conroe ships DDR2-800 will be the memory of choice, however dual channel DDR2-667 already offers more memory bandwidth than Conroe’s 1066MHz FSB can use so the fact is meaningless.
