More expected news... if you're are or will be in the market for a socket939 part then you'll be interested in some of these dates.

Farewell Socket 939 Athlon 64 X2 4200+ and 4600+

DailyTech previously reported 95 end-of-life AMD products less than 24 hours ago. (http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=3235)We received another AMD PCN this morning claiming end-of-life on the rest of AMD’s Socket 939 lineup. The last two Socket 939 products in AMD's stable will be the Athlon 64 X2 4200+ and 4600+. These two processors will reach end-of-life on June 30th, 2007 with the previously reported Athlon 64 X2 4800+. The last day to place an order on the processors will be December 27th, 2006. After that date distributors will no longer be able to order Athlon 64 X2 4200+, 4600+ and 4800+ models.

Guess it is a good thing I have an FX-60 sitting in an Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe sitting on the shelf.

Yeah, definitely would consider that a good thing... ;)

It will be interesting to see what socket939 parts survive the price slashing and come back in stock, almost as many people are after upgrades or new X2 chips then are going for Core 2 Duo I would think...

Upgrading would probably have more sense than having to buy a new mobo, cpu 'n ddr2 ram. I'm quite curious what prices for those parts will be around shortly for the EOL

Assuming they're instock, expect them to be near to these prices... although by the end of this year I'd wadger prices will rise again as supply dries up.
