All I can say is, about time!

Win98 and ME reach the end-of-life dates

Customers looking for support from Microsoft for Windows 98 and ME will be out of luck after today as both products have reached their end of life date. Microsoft has previously extended the end-of-life (EOL) of the operating systems from January, 2004 to June 30th 2006 and again in January of this year to allow for one final security update before the systems are sent to the chopping blocks.

Wow... there are people on this planet who are still using Win 98 or the *dreaded* ME? ...ouch. I pity these people... :(

I thought it was supposed to end a couple years ago at least. I agree with the dreaded ME on this though...

It was, infact that was what I quoted. ;) There was such an uproar about MS "forcing" everyone to XP that they acquiesced and pushed the EOL date back twice... Imagine that, having to force people off of 98 and ME to XP...

This doesn't mean users still can't use 98 and crap ME; its just no more updates. Even so there is no real reason not to use XP as it is better in my view sine 98 crashes more than XP; infact I really haven't had XP crash on me unless I OC'd too far.

Yep, except that this one is just to state support officially terminated yesterday. ;)
