There is one .27 miles from me. Actually he is probably 1 mile from the house but less than a 1/4 of a mile from the bus stop where they pick up and drop off the kids at the Country Club.

I have a red offender living at the corner .10 mile away. Not good. Thankfully, he is the only one in my neighborhood, while there are a ton in the downtown area. How ironic.

There was one that lived just a few streets over from where I lived while attending high school... His house was within baseball throwing range of my sisters elementary school which she would walk to everyday.

I'm not sure how it started, but he started inviting either her or her friends over to play at his place at least several times, but always with a group of their friends along to play with... Once my mother found out she grilled my sister for the details of these visits, and it was discovered he'd inappropriately touched her under the guise of an accident at least once. As sharp as my sister is she didn't have any suspicion whatsoever.

Having a mother that works as magistrate judge rather quickly took care of that problem though. :) But indeed, these kinds of people are very numerous, and it should not be any surprise to find one or more near to you wherever you live. I after I moved to SA I even started getting public notices through the USPS mail that previously convicted molesters were moving into the local area I used to live at.

Shame they don't run to Canada or Mexico like the chicken$&!% soldier that are leaving fleeing their military service.

Adult that act like this with children should never be allowed to live in public. They should get death penalties for being as twisted as they are.

Thats just my opinion though. I'm sure the flood of people will jump on here an make excuses for these sicko's and say it is societies fault and people should not be held responsible for their actions, blah, blah, blah.. ACLU is a crock.

There's more that what you'd think in the St Louis area, my wife tells me about it all the time (she's from there (Tower Grove Park area), you might want to check out some of the local offender listings. But in St Louis you have to worry more about getting shot here lately than anything else I think.

Relatively low on offenders it appears and the closest one is 3.56 miles from here... I never thought I'd see that many offenders though.

I'm sure they have a lot just like everywhere else that has a large population of people.
There aren't many out where I live either, but then again, there aren't many people period out where I live either.

I take that back, it seems that Canada is pretty closed lipped about that subject.........

WTF?! You need some explaining to do toxic. That can't be your local area cause you live in denmark! Anyhow, I'm kind of schocked to see there are that many sex offenders out there. Geez, what kind of world are we living in
I agree with s_gibson on this one. People who molest children should get the death penalty. Don't start explaining how they can be cured because they can't. They all start doing it again after a certain period of time.

I agree that these are sick, disgusting, twisted people but I'm not sure if I agree with the tracking, registration, and notification required for them.

Think about it. If someone were to kill a child (or an adult too) without sexually assaulting them, they would get to do their time in prison and be done with it. When they are out they have standard parole type stuff but community notification and no registration necessary. They could live right next door to a school without a problem. If someone sexually abuses a child and does not kill them (this crime is only slightly better than actually killing the child) the person will go to jail, do their time, but then they will be constantly monitored and have numerous restrictions placed on them for the rest of their lives. Somehow we are saying that sexual assault is worse than murder when it comes to punishment.

We also have to remember that there are many crimes that cause the offender to be labeled a sex offender but they are not truly sex offender crimes at all. Pee in the woods in Georgia (by yourself) and get caught and you become a sex offender for indecent exposure. Consensual sex between an 18 y/o boy and his 17 y/o girlfriend could land him the title of sex offender for the rest of his life. In many sex oral sex is illegal and if you are ever prosecuted for it you would be labeled a sex offender and you would have all these restrictions placed on you.

Just so you all know, this opinion is coming from someone who was repeatedly assaulted as a child so it's not like I'm far removed from the situation.

Don't start explaining how they can be cured because they can't. They all start doing it again after a certain period of time.

Actually....

In the largest and most comprehensive study ever done of prison recidivism, the Justice Department found that sex offenders were in fact less likely to reoffend than other criminals. The 2003 study of nearly 10,000 men convicted of rape, sexual assault, and child molestation found that sex offenders had a re-arrest rate 25 percent lower than for all other criminals. Part of the reason is that serial sex offenders—those who pose the greatest threat—rarely get released from prison, and the ones who do are unlikely to re-offend.

I live in Forsyth county just outside of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I just looked at Winston Salem and it is infested with these sick bastards. Although there are not many around us, and these characters are congested mainly in the city, there are a couple in the county.

Just knowing there is one Child molester 1.5 miles from my home is troubling. What I find troubling also is if someone did something like this with my child, they would never become a dot on a map, they would be represented by a stone tablet at a cemetary. In this day, justice in not well served in our judicial system. People need to take some things into their own hands. As I've said before, our justice system has lost its way due to corrupt lawyers and a rediculous ACLU.

What a troubling mentality. If your child is molested, and we all assume here that molestation is very bad, then you would murder the sex offender. This leaves your children parentless, and you have committed a crime worse then the sex offender, making you even worse. The justice system may be in need of repair, but I think this kind of logic is what is really broken. Don't pass it on.

Post some screenshots people!

And I could understand where someone might get confused with Toxic Waste, since he mentioned he once lived in St Louis, and a few posts later he put a link to his screenshot.

So far, Reno looks pretty bad. This surprises me, since you can legally pay for pu$y twenty minutes out of town.

Holy crap, this map is one hell of a reality check :O ...It is good to know that someone is watching out for the good of the people. We need one up in Canada as well... I couldn't imagine living in the same town/city as an offender, let alone next door to one...

I think those numbers are a bit biased because as you said yourself, you can get the sexual offender stamp for a lot of things. But i was specifically talking about child molestation. These guys are like attracted to children, and I don't think that'll ever change. It's like saying a gay man can go heterosexual. He can't, he can try but most of the time, the gays who got married and started a family leave them after a certain period and take off with a man. I'd say most pedofiles would likeley do pedofile acts again after a certain time. IMHO, they're walking timebombs.
