Well, the wait and all the rumours are finally over with. AMD has purchased ATI for around $5.4B USD. ATI is to be run like a division of AMD for now. So in the short run there will be little that will change. What this deal will bring in the future who knows.

Gotta say that I have mixed feelings about this one. Its good for AMD in my opion which is great, but how it will impact on ATI's products over the long term I just don't know.

I didn't see your post the first time through while checking new threads, and then only checked the Members news area a 2nd time before posting this over there, sorry... :roll:
ATI is to be run like a division of AMD for now.
Personally, I think this is exactly what ATI needs, is some of that AMD management and decesion making infused into them... Things should be getting very interesting very fast now in the computer tech industry. :-D

I think it is great that AMD has purchased ATI and dealt a blow to Intel because now one of Intels own suppliers is its competitor.

Nah, hell is still frozen from when Dell officially starting shipping AMD servers. Who knows what other interesting side effects might still yet develop... :wink:
