Crysis System Requirement Estimates

Looks like I am gonna need atleast a dualcore for best results. A DX10 card is another issue.


An Admin on the Crysis forums has posted his best guess as to the System Requirements for the upcoming DirectX10 game Crysis. As with most game specs, the Recommended Specifications are the one to look at if you want a playable experience, but again note that these are simply an indication and not a final set of specs. Crysis is now being watched very closely, as it is indicative of just how demanding the next generation of DirectX10 games will be on Windows Vista, and what they'll be capable of doing.

Update: The Crysis Forums (http://www.crysis-online.com/Information/System%20Requirements/) appear to be down due to exceeding their bandwidth, so I have linked to the copy of the specs on our own forums.

The tentative system requirements for Crysis have now been posted on the Crysis Forums by an admin there, and they are:

Minimum Requirements:
CPU: Athlon 64 3000+/Intel 2.8ghz
Graphics: Nvidia 6600/X800GTO (SM 2.0)
RAM: 768Mb/1Gb on Windows Vista
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 256k+
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX9.0c with Windows XP

Recommended Requirements:
CPU: Dual-core CPU (Athlon X2/Pentium D)
Graphics: Nvidia 7800GTX/ATI X1800XT (SM 3.0) or DX10 equivalent
RAM: 1.5Gb
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 512k+ (128k+ upstream)
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX10 with Windows Vista

Wow, I am not sure which surprises me more, the CPU requirements/recommendations... or the Internet speed requirement/recommendation. On second thought, I'll add the RAM to that list. The vast majority of people don't even have 1gb yet, and very few seem to have 1.5/2gbs.

Wow, that is alot of users who will upgrade just to play this game! Those are some (at this time) steep hardware requirements... if the game is released on time, AND Vista is also released somewhat on time...

About all I need to play this game from the get go is a video card upgrade to play it and I'm set. I expected it to be pretty steep, however I'm waiting to hear from Crytek themselves... :roll:
