You really need to check this one out, it's crazy! Maybe politicians will think about playing with the helpless people again next time. No wonder he snapped if you read the story, I'd be equally pissed if they'd give me a fine for not having a connection to the sewer when they first bought all the land around yours so you can't have a connection.

the city council and other politicians of the state were on the factory owners' evil capitalist side.
It can't just be that they're corrupt, it has to be "Evil Capitalism". Sigh.....

That was my first thought too, but then I thought, they are able to do so because they get their power by the large sums of money they own, so I kind of understand the link with capitalism and its large corporations.

This thing is like a freakin tank but without the ammunition.
Enjoy ;)
That was awsome!
He never hurt anyone either, nice job.
Makes you wonder how many more times you will see this stuff with an "emmanant domain" in effect.

This happened over a year ago. this guy basically entombed himself in this thing. (what a nut)
The buildings he wrecked were all owned by people who were against him while trying to get his business back, or so I thought when this happened last year.
That guy absolutely went Bonkers!

From what I gather, it serves them right for screwing over an honest man, but perhaps a bit overboard in the process aswell.

You might call him mad, but I am asking you, did you all read the story? A man can only stand so much before you'd actually start going mad! These things happen when the whole world seems to be against you and you no longer see another way out of your problems.

Lets see... he refuses to sell his business, so a concrete company builds it's plant completely around it and pulls all kind of crap such as trashing it with piles of dirt, dust clouds and who knows what else to try and force him out.
The Mayor and city council were bought out, so when the concrete plant illegally cuts off his sewer line they don't do anything, except turn around and tell Mavin he has to pay a $2500 fine and live without sewer service. Obviously all appeals were in vain at this point.
If I was 52, broke because my business was sitting locked inside a concrete plant facility for over a year and I was being fined by the city officials for not caving in, I'd do the same thing, or whatever I could. At 52 years with nothing left to live on and being evicted, what is the point? They had it coming to them, and the only thing I'll say is that I commend the guy's know how in building a true tank, some of the thought put into that tank's design was really smart thinking. I sure hope he got the Mayor's home too, so he'd know what it felt like himself

If you look at the pictures it seems pretty old, he might have owned it allready or get it really cheap from a scrapheap.
Onboard fans were used to keep Heemeyer cool
lol, this guy really thought about just anything (well, except getting out again, so it was a suicide mission from the start)
To be precise, the radiator failed, so yes it overheated.
I think it's nice how he only took out the buildings and hurt no-one while doing so. He wanted revenge without actually killing anyone.

I read that he bought it used in order to create his own replacement sewer line since the concrete company cut his off. Of course the town refused to grant him a permit to build a replacement sewer line, so he was left with the thing.

Well, it's just one of the many examples which finally drove him to this kind of madness. When people do that kind of thing to each other they kind of make a living time bomb out of them. We personally knew a man who died last year of cancer, we all believe he got cancer because of all the misery he had gone through. His brother had been doing these kind of things to him too (e.g. getting him in trouble with building permits, make weird calls to frighten the kids when he and his wife were out for dinner at friends,...).
