my friend was thinking of making a new rig. he might buy a 6800gt, and in like half a year when dx10 comes out, hes gonan get that. and hes gonna sell me his old card. first off, i would have to get a new mobo and case. thats no prob. but, if i have to change my psu im not gona do it. its a 480watt antec true power, it has 36 amps. and i can just get another y cable thing for the 2nd pci-e connector. tell me what u think.

also would i be bottlenecked with my 3500+ and 1gb ram?

That PSU is sufficent so don't worry. If you think your 3500+ bottlenecks a 6800GT just overclock the 3500+. For 6800GT SLi a 3500+ will be a bottlneck but again just overclock the 3500+. 1GB doesn't really matter so you should be fine with 1GB.

Just to clear things are you getting 2 6800GTs or 1?
36amps is enough for a single 6800GT or6800GT SLi.

I think one 6800GT needs atleast 18A so 6800GT SLi would need 36A.
nVidia recommends a 450W PSU for 6800GT SLi.

You might want to OC that A64 3500+ a little, but it won't bottleneck that much if very little anyway.

Youe Antec 480watt PSU can handle two 6800GT's running in SLI and the rest of your rig. It'll work. :)

That PSU will be suffcient. Its antec so they dont really inflate the 5v rails like most companies do.
