u think that if i oc the 3500+ using clockgen it would be ok? cuz its locked in the mobo. i did it before to 2.42, then when i tried 2.5 it kinda messed up. so iv done it before to 2.4 but is it ok?

The CPU multiplier is locked meaning you can only decrease the CPU's multiplier but not increase it and I don't see why ClockGen wouldn't work.

If you don't want to repeat messing things up overclock using the BIOS.

There are plenty of FAQs and how-tos to OCing with Clockgen. The short of it is you won't get much of a OC unless you are able to lock your PCI/AGP bus speeds on a fixed multiplier. Otherwise once you push the bus to high the PCI bus will fail and you can potentially corrupt any IDE HDDs doing this. ;) Ya better find and read some of those FAQs...

For general A64 OC'ing know how:

I tried and tried to o/c my 3200+ from stock 2000 to 2600, but the best I could get was an 2550.. Could it be because of my DRAM? It's Geil Vaule @ 400 MHz. Because of the O/C it raised to 420, but that's all I could squeeze from it...
Please give me a hand with this on the forum!
Thanks

Ram plays a huge roll in OC'ing............;) Best thing to do with cheap ram is to loosen the timings and use a memory divider till you find your max OC for the CPU and then start working on the ram timings tosee just how fast and tight you can get it to go.

Like sbrehm said use a 333MHz memory divider and increase the CPU voltage.
