View Full Version : my rig lol... before after and now!
well my system used to look like a poorly put together thermaltake water cooled pos in a thermaltake saprano case... it looked like crap
then i got a new case, my watercooling broke, got some good air cooling and it looked like this
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/BigD6997/b4mod2.jpg
then my vid card wasnt getting any fresh air so if was running nice and hot so i decided to add some fans8-)
also added a blowhole
and it looked like this
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/BigD6997/aftermod3.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/BigD6997/aftermod.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/BigD6997/aftermod2.jpg
then i sold the 7800gt bought a x1800xt replaced the evga pos mobo with a dfi lp expert
then i decided to take the case apart and paint the insides:-D
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/BigD6997/P1010008.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/BigD6997/P1010012.jpg
then it was too hot to paint and every time i tried the paint would dry before it hit the surface and create "dust" so it looked horrible
so ive been rockin this for a while:lol:

Word of advice its hard to see small pics. Maybe make them clickable thumbsnails.
Talk about a chopped up Lian Li case. All black is gonna look sick.
sorry thats actually the size of the images for *now* untill i can get onto my dads pc and get the pics from there

I didnt realize how lucky I was to have the Aluminus case. They are WAY easier to take apart.
Werty is right , thats gonna look sweet when done. What color are you gonna paint it?;-)
You should make a Lexan panel to cover the end of the CD-rom rack(like RedChrome to hide all the holes)
I had one of these cases last year and I sold it (stupid) I cant believe how thick the sides are..Great cases
yeah the case is a TANK... so hard to take a part... i was thinking about making a mesh cover for the front and putting a 140mm fan in it for air intake and maybe some led's?
im thinking about painting parts of the inside black and some other parts either blue or green (havnt figured it out yet)
but probly a neon green ;)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835129248
ha actualy thats the exact one i was looking at... is it as quiet as it says?
i line the outside of my fans or screws with silicon so they dont vibrate so thats not a issue

Hey BigD, what kind of camera are u using. Your pictures are a lot nicer than mine.
well all the pics except for the onees were my pc is running out of the case were taken with my old (well not that old) Olympus C-720 3mp. But the ones with it running out of the case are taken with my new Canon Rebel XT DSLR

a big thank you to mark for helping me out
almost completely dont with this case... i ordered some mesh sooo i should get that soon...
what do you guys think about this? im thinking about taking away the blowhole on top and add a mesh window so the heat can get out, but enhance the looks and quiet it down a bit
should i do that or keep the blow hole?

You already have a hole in the top. Make it Rectangular like sbrehms, and make a rectangular mesh cover for it(but dont use screws to attach it)
Are you gonna keep those 2 fans that blow at the video card?
ill be using velcro to attach it, I think ill be keeping the fans as they provide fresh air for the card, or else the air just keeps circulating around the card (when i put the fans in the temp on my 7800gt went from 61*C load to 43-44*C)

 damn that looks sweet. What did you use to paint it glossy black? Airgun? Spray paint cans?
its metalic black with clear coat over it, the clear coat gives it the gloss- spray paint

It should be dry enough now, but wait a little and put a good coat of wax, It will be insane. I am sorry I forgot to make the Plastic cover of the CDrom side. You should be able to do it "Mr. Dremel"...
And take out the lower fan frame and paint it flat black. If you cut a hole in the top like sbrehms you will be able to see the mobo tray light up through the top.
yeah i should be able to, but do you paint the back side of the plastic? i cant take the fan frame out... i just rivited stuff to it :(
i could make a plastic frame for it and paint the back of it floresent green so itstiks out more...
does anyone have and green 120mm led fans f/s?

check these,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835119074
Those thermaltakes moved a good amount of air (like more than 70CFM)
maybe ill get two of those thermaltake fans for bringing in air, and ill get two AC12 fans for taking the air out
markkleb
08-25-2006, 06:26 AM
I think you may be able to put a control on them
http://www.svcompucycle.com/zm-fanmate2-75.html
or I got one of these
http://www.svcompucycle.com/vane3mucobl.html
The AC12s would look sweet with the insides.
yeah i bet, i also need to get two 4in uv caths (4in for fitting purposes)
markkleb
08-25-2006, 06:46 AM
have you tried the UV LEDs yet? I like then much better.
http://www.svcompucycle.com/mdled5uv.html
way cleaner, less wires, way less heat and practically no chance of fire.
nice... i am going to have to get that!

I have a couple of those 120mm green led TT Thunderblades in my TT Matrix case. Between just those and an ultra-quiet 28 cfm on the side pushing air to the cpu, it is actually pretty quiet. This is just a temporary set up, so no fan controllers.
The eVga 7600 GS has a Zalman VF900 and its the stock AMD cooler on the AMD 64 3500+. The GPU maxed at 38C under load with 3dMark06 and the cpu maxes at about 36C under load. Nothing overclocked at the moment and I did use AC5 on both the GPU and CPU. In other words, they push more than sufficient air for ny case.
We'll see what happens once I put in the 4000+ and watercool. That is the computer that will be getting (hopefully) the ATI X1950XTX when it comes out.

Funny cause I am usually the one saying WAIT TILL DX-10. LOL, I figured for a good place I would definately need more than 1 of my 7600GS to impress. (my Biostar Tforce is a Micro mobo with only 1 PciX slot) I figured $200 for a X1900 is ok(borderline) but better than $300-500.
Besides like I recommended to mirrim its pretty hard to beat A HIS X1900 with the free Copper heatpipe AC cooler...
ha yeah it is hard to beat any 1800 or 1900 series card, both will play all games till dx10
did a little work today, made a intake fan that fits in my cd bay

where did you get that mesh on there now?
Do me a favor, measure the hole size on the Lian-LI (is it 1/8") and what is the distance between holes, center to center?
They look bigger than the Coolermaster.
3mm holes, 6mm from center to center

thnx, yeah that store is in my city so i can go and ask for samples and see if i can get jsut a few pieces not a HUGE sheet
