Just curious about a thing (and right now I couldn't find the answer) re: active processors. Does it count a Dual Core CPU that is running 2 instances of Folding as 1 active processor or as 2 active processors?

It counts it as 2 processors.

It counts it as 2 processors.
That's not always true Gibson. It doesn't always count the processors you have, it counts the clients you have folding as a processor. Only clients that have turned in completed WU's will be counted.
Personally, I am a bit suspect of the way it tracks this.

Well, the reason I asked was that I am currently running 2 clients on each of my 2 computers. However, looking at the stats it says I only have 2 active processors. So from what you are saying Das it should actually say 4 processors if I am running 4 clients.

This is taken from the Wiki FAQ:
The CPU count reported by the Stanford stats pages is the number of CPUIDs (UserID+MachineID) that have returned results. Depending on which page you look at this maybe numbers active within the past 7 or 50 days. Re-installing the client will somtimes produce additional CPU's in the count.

I hope this answers your question.

It actually comes down to this. It will display all the cores you are folding on. If you have a dualcore cpu but run only one instance it will show only one cpu. If you run two instances of FAH it will show up as two cpu's. (they must have different ID's though, but well, that's required to run 2 clients in dualcore setups)

Isn't that what Das basically said? One instance per core, plain and simple.

Thats basicly what Gibson answered in his first post......;)
SwedBear Asked: Does it count a Dual Core CPU that is running 2 instances of Folding as 1 active processor or as 2 active processors?
And the simple answer without all the extra garbage was, It counts it as 2 processors.
He was 100% correct and all this could have been avoided.............:)
