this stuff is impresive, 0.8mm ply, not cheap but soo thin, and supringly strong, did 3 layers of it and it formed the top

Wood has a warmth that plastic/metal will never have. I really like the Shape/Design too. Much nicer than just a square box...

Wouldnt a wood comp run cooler than a Metal one?

cheers, well people say that a wooden comp runs hotter, as you would expect as wood is a much better insulator, but i havnt noticed any temp differeces over a metal one

There's a wide gap all around the box, I don't think heat would be much of a problem as long as there's a little bit of airflow. Besides there's a very good heat sink on the CPU, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Nice colour! I would have probably gone with amber/yellow instead of green to get a nice 'cathode tube glow', but I guess that's down to personal taste.

Alot of it staying cooler is probably by not having the back case slots blocking air coming it and exiting.

With you case a good exhaust fan would be all that would be needed to keep it cool with that much open spce for air to come in.

they may have a bit more heat, but they are alot quieter cuz they obsorb the noise, so you can get high rpm fans

its true, i was going for a silent pc, for some reason it inst, but when i open the door its pretty noisy, so must be absorbing alot of the heat

well it depends if it is a closed space it will obsorb sound, but if it has a opening it will reverberate it and make it louder... like a accustic guitar!

Huh-oh, did you just give me an idea for a crazy wicked mod there? :)

It would have to be a pretty big guitar to fit a mobo in... Maybe I'll just ask a (female!) friend if she has an old harp she doesn't use anymore... hmm...

a computer guitar would be cool... but a waist of a good intrument :(

Wow, nicely done! I've seen a few wooden mods, but the shape and overall design are very different. I would have gone with amber or white to set off the rosewood stain, but the green works too. I particularly like the band of light going over the top and the way the doors on the front open, consistent with that split look.

Okay, watching the stages are you built that thing really made it more impressive... That pretty much answered my questions on it's design! The slit along the top should really help to dispell the heat that ends up not being exhausted out the back, and ya hide the intake underneath the case... Nice job with that stain work, too!

cheers, it went together pretty smooth, nice and simple, but looks good
