Confirm RAM compatability

I purchased Mushkin SKU 991498 for a Dell XPS Generation 4 system. This system worked perfect prior to the upgrade. Once upgraded with the Mushkin parts, it performed for almost an hour without problems. After an hour, the system began to reboot erratically, and eventually would not boot beyond the POST. Removing the Mushkin RAM restored the system to its original working condition.

Should I create and RMA through NewEgg, or through Mushkin?

Well, unless you feel like trying Mushkin's phone support and asking them directly and if there are any known incompatibility issues...I'd suggest getting a refund or credt from Newegg? That's strange though...

The SKU doesn't match that listed on Mushkin's website for the Dell XPS Gen 4 system. http://www.mushkin.com/doc/products/guide/dell/system.asp?id=812 (http://www.mushkin.com/doc/products/guide/dell/system.asp?id=812) NewEgg is backlisting that specific SKU RAM until the 25th as well...

I think I will ask NewEgg to RMA the RAM. It will not allow any DDR2 system I have to even show POST. Seems like I have some completely bad RAM modules in my hands.

My recc is to have New Egg swap for a new pair.
Only then would I consider a RMA, Mush will probably tell you to do that first anyways.

It's usually faster that way to.

I hate going through returnes on line and such.
Shipping up here in Canada always costs a fortune.

Well, I ended up creating an RMA through NewEgg. It's too bad the Mushkin reps didn't even bother to visit this forum and give their feedback.

Glad to hear your rma is in the works.
I believe the issue with your pc arrised due to that memory being rated at 1.9V.

The best bet with dell pc's, is to use the pefect match memory. These use 1.8V which is the standard.
