I use Hauppauge cards. They cost between 60-100 bux but if thats too much much id go with ati's card. Also i wouldnt spend any less than $50 as my last card was a Kworld $30 card and it was poor quality and jerky like u said. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Brand=1772&N=2010380047+50001772&Submit=ENE&Manufactory=1772&SubCategory=47

I would choose a Hauppage too, they may be a bit more expensive but they have better quality. I would also choose an external setup unless you have digital tv, because of the interference from the other Pc components. Hauppage also have some hybrid cards if you want both analog and digital.

I would go for an external, I had a internal card myself and it showed all kinds of static. As soon as i switched to a external i couldnt see any static, but depends on the shielding. I would choose a external for use with analog... I have the Pinnacle USB 2 i think. I works great and i think its a reasonable price, if it isnt discontinued.
look at one of these 3.

I can vouch for the WinTV-PVR-500 MCE as thats the 1 i have in my HTPC. Its hooked up to my HDTV cable box and works great. Driver was a lil bit tricky tho.
I bought the ATI PCI TV.
It worked very well under win 98, after I got windows XP and installed it, it stopped working.
I have waited for updates for a long time never did get it working again. It just froze. I wonder if it is the card now or running under windows XP.
Installing the drivers was a convaluded excersize to say the least.
I would like to try a new card eventually, I guess they make HDTV ones now hey?

The 150 is a good 1 too. The main thing u want is hardware encoder. Thats if u want to record what u watch. You should be in good shape with Hauppauge.

I have the WinTV PVR USB 2 and I love it. Very easy to use and I haven't had any problems with it. Really helped out when I was living in residence last year and had no space for a TV!

An Hauppauge or an ATi Theater 550-650 Pro could do the job. The 650 seems pretty good, but it's an internal card...
