    I just realized we are discussing a null point as the chip offers 40 lanes so if making a gene board then it will be 2 slots which will be x16 native on both anyways....

    sheesh lol I wish I woulda noticed that earlier... for some reason I was thinking 1155/1156

    While this is true that it can saturate a 8x bus it will only see a slight performance difference...

    plus implimentation of the PCI-e Gen 3 lanes I am almost certain will require detection of a Gen 3 card otherwise it will likely drop to gen 2 spec which with only half of the slot pins active will still be 8GB/s Aggregate bandwidth
