It could be. Because I once managed to screw up a BIOS chip on an old amd board. But that time the BIOS chips were huge !!!

Why didn't you just get the chip soldered ? Or wait a couple of months?

It just weird that plugging a FX-8120 would fry the bios chip just because of incompatibility. I mean intel board doesn't do that when ivy processors are plugged in unsupporting chipsets..

Geez. I wish I had $230 to throw around (plus shipping, I imagine).

There's gotta be some way to fix it. Too bad he didn't get one of those bios-swappable boards (although I think those are mostly intel).

As for the review...

Windows 8, the new revolutionary OS from Microsoft.

It's certainly new and certainly different, but I don't know if revolutionary is quite the right word for it.

Damn. That's so sad. What a waste !!! I can't believe that. Have you tried reviving the board? Or giving it to the technicians to repair? That's a very expensive board to waste !!

And ur right about the Intel boards. They don't fry up the chip. They just don't boot. Or accept the processor till a BIOS update
