Well, I had a old LG W2252TQ 22inch lcd monitor and it was on 24/7 for 3 years almost, it went about 8 months ago, but surprisingly enough the compacitators were still good but the circut board fried from this brick thing I forget what it is called.
Well I got bored and looked on ebay for a broke one like lcd is broke, finds out Ebay is still my friend and bought a powerboard for $21.50 from a china manufacturer.
So that was kinda awesome.
Instead of buying a new monitor just incase my monitor atm fries, Now i dont got to worry about it cause ill have another for a year or two because I just fixed it, and it was a simple fix too!
I had my monitor for the 8 months to a year or year half I forget completely haha, but it was in my back room wich gets humid hot during summer, and spring, and cold in winter/fall because its not insulated, it was in a thick plastic bag like the black garbage bags, and yea, surprisingly enough, It worked.
Never messed with a monitor nor replaced compacitators, but just in general a new powerboard for $21.50 was awesome since though the compacitators werent bulging too bad yet.
I suggest others with old broke monitors that dont power on, to look on ebay, put in ur model of monitor, like mine was W2252TQ, and put that in search, look for the one that looks exactly like power board and yea, fix it up instead of selling it for parts. The Monitor I got is still better then some being produced today and glad I fixed it, so i mean seriously, if its not cracked, and its only not powering on, either compacitator needs replace, or just buy a whole new powerboard, its unplug, take apart, unscrew board, put new board in, and just wow so simple.
Just im still amazed i saved around 200$ for a good lcd from a known manufacturer who has good quality, as well as didnt buy a used one for around 100-180$ and because i bought the board, I only spent $21.50 cause it came with free shipping, it took around 2 weeks to get from china to NY wich is quite fast, so I advise you guys to take ur monitor apart and just buy the board!
Idk if im exaggerating or acting to hyper but hey, I saved alot of money, and some people dont know if the compacitators are what is bad, cause mine were bulging a bit but was still able to last awhile, but it was really this rectangle brick thing and it was fried on the circuit board.
$$$$ saved = happiness we all know that one hah.
sorry for it being a blob of blabber happiness just thought id share, cause some people just give up and buy a new one because the compacitator fix didnt work.
