I just started last night with my old 4850 it was running at 70 mh/s
HEy its a start. What pool you on?
right now I'm in the bitclockers mining pool gonna see how it goes for a while
Should I be in a pool and if so does the size of the pool matter? So many questions
Yes you should be in a pool. Otherwise you could go for a year without finding a block. The size only matters on how fast you get your money. But with a bigger pool you get less but more often. Small pool more money less often. I currently use BTCGuild. I donate so if the pool gets an invalid block I still get paid for it. Please ask all the question u want.
I have a feeling I'll have plenty of questions for ya in the coming weeks.
I just got my first payout my Current Balance: 0.01580424 BTC
LOL a long way to go
[H] has an article on Bitcoin mining where they compare different setups: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/...ce_comparison/
Well I guess doing this would be out of the question for me considering I have 2 power hogging slow Nvidia GPUs lol. I don't understand how you can buy parts with this either.....
While there are companies out there that you can send your Bitcoins to for computer parts. I prefer just to cash in what I need for hard money then buy what I want.
Bloke there are not really any hurdles you just have to get set up. Let me know if you need help with that.
James good job on the BTC.
Also guys be sure to check the update for the August contests. :)
Looked into the bitcoin system. Heard about it awhile back as the internet currency, but hasn't really caught on with any retailers that I seen. As far as the mining goes, I ran it overnight. Was getting 48/mhash when i increased my memory clocks on my 460. Decided I would do better with folding than mining with my build Would take me months or years to get any decent money return back and i don't have the funds to put up for ATI cards or any mining farms.
I actually found a website that lists all of the cards mining supports, plus the average output and how much return you would get with each card. Found the link in the Bitcoin forums. If I stumble across it again I will link it.
-EDIT-
I did not find the site I found yesterday, but here ( http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/Bitcoin-Currency-and-GPU-Mining-Performance-Comparison/Dollars-Day-and-your-P ) is one that gives you an idea of the returns on each card. I believe the exchange rate is lower now too so keep that in mind. The bitcoin wiki https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison gives you a more detailed picture of output and how much power is being used by each card.
Yea I already Googled it and read his link. That's why I decided this isn't for me because I have an i5 and 2 465's. It would be a total loss due to electric costs.
