Nice drive, but requires the right MB to get the full 3TB and was priced a bit high to begin with for a Seagate. Now that the flood happened in Thailand, the prices will be even higher for a while.
I had my eye on a Hitachi Deskstar 7K3000 2TB drive I saw at Newegg on email subscriber promo for $100 ($120 regular price). Then the flood jacked the price up to $300! Shoulda bought 1 or 2 of them I think. The 7K3000 2TB is capable of 158 Mb/s write speed.

mechanical drive price probably would come down in a month or so after the supply has gone up. It's a simple supply and demand now with the flood:). Get an SSD and pair tha with smaller mechanical drive is the way to go.Quote:
