1 DVI, 1 DP to DVI (active) adapter, 1 HDMI to DVI adapter. The HDMI to DVI adapter will go on the monitor itself and you use a regular HDMI cable. It's also pretty cheap.
Be sure that the Mini-DisplayPort (MDP) adapter is ACTIVE. If it's not, you're likely to come across the issue where your system will detect the monitor but it won't be able to utilize it at the same time as the other two. Meaning, you can still use the monitor, but not all three monitors at the same time.
thx guys just gotta find a deal on a mini dp to dvi
deal? will it work on 6eye? is it will , please let me have to link thanks
this is the one I went with for 19$ link
theres some cheaper stuff but no good reviews and it seems alot of folks are having prob picking a decent one.
I never fully got why you need an Active cable for eyefinity while Surround works with just about any cable you can find in any combination. Anybody know the answer to that?
because cross fire works on any mb with two or more pci-e, this is there ways of payback to sli
It's because the card/driver combo on AMD requires the active DAC instead of a passive one. It's just the way they do their stuff. It hasn't been such an issue with Nvidia because before 2 cards were required which gave a good combination of DVI and HDMI ports. No you have 2 DVI and an HDMI to use so still isn't an issue. With AMD this typically isn't the case as they push for DP more than anything. I haven't done research on it (for obvious reasons) but I do think you will need an active DP to DVI adapter for Nvidia as well.
It has nothing to do with this, and even Crossfire doesn't work on some boards.
i am sorry i should type workstation mb
Just going off what the AMD site says. They consider HDMI-VGA-DVI legacy now and say active is required for 2 "legacy" monitors.
After some more Google, it appears this might be the case with only the 5 series. They also have listed some passive adapters that are compatible. I guess the only way to find out is if it works.Quote:
Connectivity Requirements: AMD Eyefinity technology is supported by graphics cards in the ATI Radeon™ HD 5400 series and higher. These cards can support up to six monitors (depending on the model), subject to the following restrictions:
• A maximum of 2 legacy monitors (VGA, DVI or HDMI) can be enabled simultaneously, provided that each monitor is connected either directly or via a “passive” DisplayPort™ adapter/dongle. “Passive” adapters/dongles will NOT support more than 2 legacy monitors.
• To enable support for more than 2 monitors, “active” DisplayPort™ adapters/dongles are required (or monitors with direct DisplayPort™ connectivity must be used).
• Approved “active” adapters have no general connectivity restrictions with AMD Eyefinity technology.
