computer issues
Computer was folding last night when I went to bed. Wasn't too hot, running fine. This morning it is off and will not start back up. Hit the power button and the leds light up, but shut right back off. Left it for awhile but it still will not start. Any ideas?

Could be any number of things. Can you boot it up with just the bare minimums i.e. cpu ram mobo and psu?
-
Nope. just have the processor, ram, psu, plugged in. still same thing.
-
do you happen to have a spare psu or psu tester?
-
Sadly no, my last psu was before you needed a cpu or gpu power plug
-
Do you have any spare parts that you can swap out just to rule out the part as an issue?
-
I do have my last board and equipment before this FM1 board. Was probably going to end up switching it out to see if it was the mobo or cpu.
-
Try that and hopefully you can narrow it down
-
Ugh I cant afford computer issues now. Car is down and wife keeps spending money on Christmas crap.
-
How old is the PSU? Do you clean it often?
I am going with a bad PSU.
-
Jump the pins on the PSU to see if it will turn on and stay on. I am guessing you already re-seated the ram and checked your PSU to MB connections? If the PSU stays on when jumpered test it with a voltmeter(won't give you loaded reading) See if any voltages are out of wack.
-
Well the PSU isnt jumping so it looks like that is the problem. I hear like a hiss from it when I try to but no power. Guess I need to find a heavily discounted psu.
-
Just a follow up to Joshua_Mahr's comment on "jumping" a PSU; you need to insert a paper clip or wire from the green wire to a black wire.
