Ouch Chakka, I was worried about the dead pixel policy at Newegg. I scored though and my monitor did not have any dead pixels. Almost bought one from Costco because of their excellent return policy.

Oh I dont have the nerve to buy online because of dead pixel problems and stupid return policies. Looks like 3rd time could be a charm. Went to a different best buy and noticed that my old 2 monitors were Jan 07 and this last one is a Feb 07 batch. Looks like the Feb 07 might have 2 dark pixels stuck (red on green) but the backlight is very good with almost no bleed...much better than 18-20 stuck pixels on white and dark screens.
I guess if you interested in the HP w2207, look for a Feb 07 or later before you buy. This monitor is really well worth the money for $289 even if it has 1 or 2 stuck pixels. The stand is superior to the sammy 226w and it pivots lengthwise. Looks like 1:1 works with option fill to aspect ratio cause I just booted an old 1280x1024 game and had black bars on the sides. Plus it has a 2 port usb hub on the side too.
If I keep this Ill probably upgrade in a few years to a 30 inch monitor when they are around $300 or less.
Okay so I finally became a member of the WS club :)
It took me some time to find the best bang for the buck and went for the S-PVA screen. I bought this: Gateway FPD 2185W
It has great specs, nice features [almost on par with DELL] and a price that is more than appealing. I got it today and was a bit frustrated by the image quality with the VGA cable. After replacing it with a DVI cable I am 100% sure that buying that screen was the right choice.
Congrats on the monitor upgrades guys! Since all of your time spent on a computer is spent staring at the screen it's the best upgrade to have really. :)
Chaka, you might be waiting until 2010 before 30" models they that cheap!
I'll let y'all in on a little secret though... during the last Xmas sales, the Dell 3007WFP-HC could be had for ~$1,100 or so, give or take a little... The price will only go down next Xmas. ;)
congrat guys, once you go widescreen, you never go back:).
Yep...this 22 inch hp w2207 is really a very nice monitor.
I think the LCD technology may change dramatically in the next few years with LED backlights, 120 mhz refresh rates and wider color gamuts. I decided to settle with a really decent HP w2207...its much easier on the wallet since I only spent $289.99 plus tax and eliminate buyers remorse if I decide upgrade later...
Hey, I guess Im finally in the widescreen club now!
Hey guys here is my addition.

Where is the modded mouse forum??
Nice setup. Welcome to the club! ;)
You have the same speakers that I picked up I see... How do ya like them?
They are awesomeriffic.
Very clear and booming with the sub hidden underneath. If they made wireless versions of these I would probably faint.
Erm, they do make a newer wireless version, infact I think they make three actually... they all just happen to cost twice as much or more. :ahhhhh: They include a wireless remote though, and black speakers.
Well Im not in the club yet...I took back my 4th hp w2207 because it had 7 stuck subpixels...and it was the best of the lot. I had ones manufactured in Jan, Feb and Mar.
Since Ive tried 2 widescreen displays, Im desperate for a widescreen cause this 19 inch monitor now looks tiny!
I just noticed the Dell 2407 down to $569 plus tax. I think Im going to spring for this one...any opinions on this monitor?
