It's perfectly fine to get a 8 channel modem. If your provider only offers 4 atm it will still work like in my case with the 41 I get only 4 channels.

If your not going to do big overclocking or need all those expansion slots then the ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX is a tad bit of an overkill.

The thing with generic adapters is that theres no real info on whats in them, thus its risky to try and buy a cheap one (<20$).
