Oh cool, thanks for the response....no wonder I missed it; I was looking in the BIOS setting pages and that first screen flashes by very quickly.

It says 721N9p07, so it looks like I'm set.

    Thanks again for the response!

    Default I am having Trouble!

I am having trouble with a bios update. I created a new post but then noticed I should have responded to this post sorry. I have been stressing out not having my pc up and running that I have been scanning more than reading. Anyways I have a 790i and was attempting a Bios update. It had an error when It was installing and locked up. I restarted the computer and now it does not post. I tried all of the suggested fixes but none of them seemed to have work since it is doing the same thing since the error. When starting up there is no beeps or sounds and it says FF as soon as it is powered up. I tried the jumpers, I tried the battery, I tried holding power while doing the jumper, I tried taking out components to see if somethign else was bad but they all worked in a friends computer. I appreciate any help that can be given. My ticket number at XFx is 176405. Also if i do get an rma how long does the process usually take? I appreciate all your help in advance thank you soo much

    Angry FF - error code

    Hello,

Im new here and just wanted to share my experience.
So i invested in a new comp
    XFX 790i ultra mb
    Q9450
    XFX GTX280
    4gb OCZ
    850w Thermaltake psu

When i put it all together i was surprised with the performance , 6 hours later when i finally installed all the software/drivers/updates i did a bios update...
    (downloaded from the xfx site)

    Bad idea

Ive been building computers for almost 10 years now, but never had these kind of problems with a bios...

In the old days, i used floppy's and booted in dos to do the bios update
Nowadays i always use the winflash utility without experiencing problems, until i bought this XFX board with the ULTRA CRAPPY bios.
instead of putting on a LCD poster they should consider a backup bios imho i find that a lot more useful.

ive owned asus, gigabyte, msi, dfi and asrock mb's flashed the bios so much i cant remember, NEVER had problems!!
A board over 300$ with such a bios is just unacceptable

    I tried everything !!
clear cmos overnight, putting the graka in another slot to get errors ,swithed the memory , booted with no cpu , booted without memory,... just everything .

No luck still keeps giving the bloody FF error.

The mb was 6 hours old, im frustrated as hell !!
I had to send it back and im still waiting after 4 weeks.

Conclusion: im never buying a mb from XFX again im sticking with gigabyte.

Not sure if anyone is still responding to this thread, but I have been having the same issues. I paused at the first BIOS screen and got this info:
    Phoenix - AwadBIOS v6.00PG
    (6A61IR03) Release number 721N1P05
    NVIDIA BIOS Version: 2.053.91.

I have started a ticket with XFX tech support and will PM you the number after. I was asked to burn the iso file given to me through this link.

    Thank you.

After reading this entire thread I am both shocked and saddened by the fact that a clear consensus on successfully flashing the bios on an XFX mobo hasn't been clarified, not even by the XFX Tech's.

I've been buying components for this build since mid June and I will be attempting to put it together at the end of this month...now I read this thread, can someone please tell me how to successfully flash a BIOS for an XFX 780i...can it even be done? I have a floppy drive and an IDE CD burner, so what should I use to flash the BIOS? Thanks.

Flash with a CD. The chances of anything going wrong with a CD flash is basically nothing in a functional systems.

I am reporting that I still have problems after overnighting the CMOS out of the mobo with the AC power cord unplugged. I attempted BIOS flash update to P08 using winflash as prescribed by the XFX website (they had no other option to update) and the pdf included with the winflash exe downloaded from XFX. I still have no POST, just initial startup light flash all three LEDs on the board spark (blue, amber, and green) and all fans but the rear chassis fan spin away.

Made ticket with XFX, I really did not need this. My last 3 updates were successful, but now I see that there are issues with XFX flash updates.

Took apart machine and rebuilt, piece by piece. Found bad sticks of memory. 2x2048 OCZ SLI-ready 800s RMA'd

Never knew memory can cause no-POST.

Yep, no post, did as you instructed and still no post, no power led on front pannel, onboard post led reads FF constantly.

    Default y specs

I forgot to mention this part; I have also placed 2 tickets and have been totaly ignored.
I have been building systems for the past 22 years, 4 years at uni to study in this field, and in all my years, I have never come across such a faild motherboard. Hell, I thought Gigabyte had problems with support, XFX make them look like rank ametures.
The 709i would have to be the best examply of hype masking people from knowing what a dog of a motherboard this thing really is.
I have poured a lot of time and money into making this motherboard work, and to date, All I have to show for it is a expencive heap of metal that may be better served as a anchor off my boat while fishing off the great barrier reef near Cairns.
    For those who feel they may be able to offer me a solution to this problem, here are my specs;
    XFX 790i Ultra
    2 x Galaxy 9800GTX
    2 x 2GB OCZ DDR3 1333 Gold edition
    3 x 750 SATAII Western Digital
    1 x 1 TB Seagate SATAII
2 x ASUS Duel Layer DVD drives
    Thermaltake Toughpower 850watt
    Onboard sound
    Thermaltake Amour + case

    Here is what I am experiencing;
    - No boot up
    - No display
    - internal let post shows FF constantly
    - All LED's at top of mobo light up correctly and in soft off
    - No over heat LED displaying
    - All fans running and constant red LED on front pannel for HDD's
    - No front pannel power light when turned on.

And like I said, I have done 2 tickets as well with absolutly no response.
Sugestions / anything that my leade to this thing fireing up stabily would go some ways to restoring what at the moment is a very bad reputation for both XFX and nVidia from a ever growing number of people who feel they have been conned into purchasing a very expencive lemon.

Had a similar problem, i thought it was my video cards or the pci-e slots. Turned out the be the dvi dual cable went bad, so i swapped it out for a standard vga cable and bam i had my video back....

    Thumbs down Another bad flash...

Well, I did it too, tried reflashing on Windows (Vista-64 Ultimate) via nVidia application, got a bad verification, didn't restore the backup BIOS (my biggest error, I think), restarted the machine (my other biggest error, this one for sure). And then... POST FF, nothing more!

I would like to get tips on reflashing my BIOS or getting a new one:

    To reflash:
    - What are the voltages of the BIOS chip?
    - Any PLCC-32 programmer will do or there are differences for those 8Mbit chips?
    - I wouldn't like to remove the BIOS chip stickers (perhaps that would void the reseller warranty), so what are the chip specs and part#?
    - I have made a backup of my previous BIOS which is living inside the dead machine HD, to get it back means mounting the HD on another machine. There is a place to get version P06? At xfxforce.com I only found the P08 version.
    - I intend to try first using P08 version, there is any relevant issue I should know?

    To replace:
    - What PLCC chips may I use? Which is the recommended one?

I would greatly appreciate any tips and insights!

Default XFX 8200 GeForce won't post after 1.4 BIOS update

    Hello,

My XFX 8200 GeForce won't post after 1.4 BIOS update. I previously had 1.3 BIOS. After I flashed it read d5 on the LED. I removed the battery from the motherboard and disconnected the power cord. I reconnected the power cord and plugged the battery back in. It still won't post, the LED reads something incoherent, its not forming full letters.

What are my next steps? This is a dual bios board, can I activate the back up BIOS?
