es i would like to know to, evga have a flash.exe to update the bios but this is the worries i have.

Updating the bios to the same version of bios can make the bios corrupt?

Whats the best way to find out the bios of an XFX 790i currently to there maybe no need to update the bios at all?

CPU-z doesn't show on the motherboard section nothing with p*** just phoenix award 6.00

I think the best solution would be to offer all the files:

1) DOS version via boot-cd /disk
2) Win version via NForce Tools

Cause personlly i can`t get what ppl can do wrong when booting from a CD...

I have the same problem after bios update in Windows. Bad move! I have all kinds of problems booting now and can't even go back to old bios. My fans are running at full speed. I tried the battery removal but I can't get it back to original settings. Anyone got any clues?

XFX 680i LT SLI

I had the same problem initially. Where all of the fans are running and the blue and yellow lights are on, but no video. For me, the problem was one of the DIMM slots. Try booting with one stick of memory and the other and see what happens.

I had my system up for about 2 days then updated the bios. Now I am having the same 790i FF no post problem: UGH! I have tried removing the all power, removing the CMOS battery and letting it sit overnight – just the same no post FF status. I tried the cheap memory 1GB thing still doesn’t work. I just found this forum and I’m not happy about the support from XFX! My ticket has been open since June 4 and I’m still waiting on a tech… There response can be measured in tree rings… can anyone help....

I've hosed 2 790i boards trying to update to P05 BIOS using the floppy method. Board is at XFX for RMA because of the instant FF code.

If you do have a ticket open with XFX call them and speak to someone to get RMA number and ship it to them. There's no way that board is coming back from and instant FF with out XFX getting involved.

Also, all of the XFX techs that I talked to advise that you should not use the nVidia system tools from the CD that came with your board to flash the BIOS.

So i started a ticket over there and after explaining the problem in as much detail as possible the support's response was talk to your reseller

Are you in North America? NA support and Europe support are very, very different. If you're in North America they can be very helpful. Just PM the ticket number to XFX tech, like he said.

I'm actually in Asia right now. But bought the stuff through Amazon.

I did talk to XFX tech, he helped me. I'm dissapointed in the support i got from the technician that had my ticket number and just ended up telling me to contact my reseller. We all know that's a last resort. Having contacted a technician from the company using a ticket, I thought they'd atleast have time to tell me to try some things that i might not know instead of the answer I got.

There isn't really anything you can do with a failed BIOS flash except replace the BIOS chip. That is why they didn't try to diagnose anything. I don't think that the Asia warranty covers that. Was it bought from Amazon in the US?

I'ver found the best and SAFEST was id thru Dos, see too many win flashes bomb out. Just went thru a bad one trying to window flash a XFX 8200 board....

I just used the iso burnt to a CD to flash my xfx 680i LT to 07. Everything indicated a successful CMOS update; however, both CPU-Z and Everest are still reporting that I'm still on P06.

I suppose this means my update was unsuccessful? The only unclear part was that it said "push F10 to cancel" but when it was done, it said, "take the disc out and push F10." LOL one fricken' button and I am still confused. What should I do?

Those programs report the version on the AWARD BIOS that the 680iLT BIOS is based off of. It says version 6.00PG right? Turn off your full screen logo if it is on and restart the computer. Press the Pause key on your keyboard at the first BIOS screen. There is a release number in the top left of that screen. If it ends in P07 than you are fine.
