Now overclock that Q6600 and watch your score take off. 3.6 on air should be easy.

Like I said in my other thread, I'm going to keep my 3.0GHz settings, at least for the time being and I'm NOT going to overclock my Q6600 any higher, mainly because my ASUS P5N-E 650i mobo is 'holding' me and also because I'm already reaching the max load temps...

So unless I'll have better cooling solution and better cable management / air-flow and a better mobo, I'll keep these settings.

And I must say, I'm quite satisifed with a 3.0GHz overclock, although it's quite mild overclock and I'm pretty sure I can reach higher overclocks with this Q6600 (G0), so it's a bit dissapointing...

    Thanks anyway...

Not that easy Muppet.I've tried 3.6 with mine also & everything looked fine in games & benchmarks but whenever i tried to run Orthos, the CPU temps went over 68-70C & the PC got restarted. So, it's better to stay within 3-3.2 unless u've a excellent cooling solution.

EXACTLY! Mainly with my current mobo and current air-cooler...

Just trying to encourage you to give it a bit more. But no worries.

Most Q6600 GO will do 3.6 on air around 1.4- 1.5 volts. I have a second system using a P5Q Pro and Q6600@3.6 air cooled with the IFX-14 Thermalright. Idles at 30 degrees celcius and prime95 stable small tft at 55 degrees. So it is do able. That's 24/7 too.

That's a heck of a heat sink, accommodates up to 3 120mm fans, has a backplate heat sink for the reverse side of the socket. With 2 good fans it'll set you back close to a hundred and take up a good portion of the interior of your case.

I bet motherboards tremble when they see it coming, long term it'll probably warp the board.

Hehehe... Yeah, that's definitely one hell of an Air-Cooler...

I'm thinking that with the sheer mass of that thing part of the cooling comes from a miniature black hole at it's center.

I was seriously thinking of reviewing one and then mounting it on a plaque like deer antlers and hanging it over the computer. Just it's proximity to the CPU should help with heat. That or scare it into submission.

that be a little hard to say . especially in vantage , bc memory makes a boat load of difference on that potion of the test .

Yikes that thermal right cooler is freaking huge ..... i think my temps dropped 3 degrees from looking at it ....

LOL ... theres really only 1 way . change the cpu and socket completly . you can still use amd but if you goin for all out assault with amd the 9950 is your best choice . even tho nvidia doing the physx portion you still bottle necking the video card with the cpu .. i hate to be the one to say it .
