ATI's 58XX Reviews are out, what are you going to do?
What are you guys thinking about the new series? I'm sure your all excited about the contest, but being that there's more than one person entered don't count on winning, so lets try to keep this about buying one.

I gotta use my EVGA bucks on something so I'm gonna wait for nVidia's offerings but more specifically their midrange card(GTX360 or whatever its gonna be called)

Almost pulled the trigger on a 5850. I've got a 4850 now, and I usually skip a generation -- so it says something that ATI has me considering an upgrade.
However, it would be crazy not to wait for Nvidia's response. Even if I don't go back to the Nvidia fold, that 5850 is likely to be cheaper then.

I feel the need for a DX11 card. Just having all these new features makes my programmer side drool. I know there's a chance I won't actually get to try them (instead spending my time on hardware sites ), but I really do have plans to try them. I'm currently waiting to see what the 57x0 cards will be like. Might get one of them, as I'm sure it'd be a step up in performance from my 3870.

I am not sure Nvidia's offerings will be DirectX11 however. Not only are they downplaying it themselves...http://xbitlabs.com/news/video/displ...ics_Cards.html But they are also threatened by it because it will help the ATI cards with Physics with Havok. Mind you Havok would work as well on the Nvidia cards but Nvidia does not want to see their PhysX go down the tubes either. So what I am thinking is going to happen is that 1) Nvidia is going to be DirectX10. 2) Nvidia is going to be DirectX11 but with some things disabled as a marketing attempt to blame Havoc for breaking games and DirectX11 dies in the water like 10.1. 3) They bite the bullet and come out with a fully working DirectX 11 card going toe to toe with Havok causing a awesome Physics battle which we will all benefit from.

I'm going to wait and see what comes out and then decide to either upgrade to a newer Nvidia card or keep what I have until a later card comes out.New rig.

From the reviews the cards look like they have some serious horsepower but I wish ATI had developed more new features to go with the cards. Eyefinity is interesting but I doubt I will ever use it. ATI seems to be pushing the "potential" of the new cards but right now they feel a lot like extensions of the 48XX lineup with full DX11 support. I will be holding off on an upgrade for a while. I really want to see what the green team brings to the table and I want to see some competition with prices.

If I was to go with a HD58xx card I would opt for the HD5850.

On another note im a little bit scared at this:
one 8 pin connector? Im further frightened by this picture:
Im sorry, but those sauder marks sure don't line up...
If you look closely in both pictures, it looks like the back of the PCB was cut.

I'm quite pleased with my current HD4870 OC at the time. Still runs everything I throw at it at very high settings so there's still time left for me. By the time the games get to be more demanding, the prices of new series will probably get more realistic. I will reconsider then.

Well my system is a bit outdated, especially my graphics card. I have (i know it's very old) a Nvidia 8500GT 512Mb. I can still run the latest games but not maxed.
I think i'm gonna wait till the new Nvidia cards come out and maybe then, when the prices drop, i'll get a 5850, probably the Vapor-X version from Sapphire which should be coming soon.
