Default Just fixed XBOX 360 having a RROD problem - Try fixing yours!!!

I've spent all day long in trying to fix XBOX 360 console with a RROD (Red Ring OF Death) that I borrowed from a friend of mine.

I'm so eager to play Alan Wake and I just gave up the idea it'll ever be released for PC.

With Alan Wake's upcoming official release on May 18, I've decided to try and fix XBOX 360 console having a RROD, since I don't have any other friends with a working console that can borrow it to me.

A friend from work mentioned that he has a XBOX 360 console with RROD problem lying around at home, so I suggested him to give it to me and I'll try to fix it. And, in case I'll manage to fix it, in favor, he'll borrow it to me, so I'll be able to play Alan Wake.

So...I did a long research over the net for the ultimate RROD fix, since I never owned XBOX 360 console before, nor tried to fix the RROD, so it was the first time for me in dealing with a Console fix.

I was a bit skeptic, but after I followed all steps in the internet, explaining how to open up the console and apply the fix, I was ready to go...
For those of your who are familiar with the RROD fix, I've applied both the X-Clamp fix (replacing the original clamps with bolts that attach the Heatsniks directly to the chassis of the console) and the 'Pennies' fix (applying pressure on the RAM chips).

Suprisingly, after I finished the fix, the console it BACK TO LIFE.

I know the fix I did is a 'temporary' fix, but if I'm lucky enough, it might last long.

In case I'll see the fix is lasting for more than a few days (currently running for a few hours), I might order a copy of Alan Wake from eBay and who knows...I migth be able to play the game afterall...

Anyway, I'll keep you updated ...I justed wanted to share with you my satisfacting of successfully fixing my first XBOX 360 with a RROD problem.

WHY NOT TRY FIXING YOUR XBOX 360 THE SAME WAY I DID:

For the X-Clamp fix, I've mainly used these tutorials:
    http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=198&t=511
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZbuwtXdpvw
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcyYG-boWvM&feature=related

For the 'Pennies Trick' fix, I've mainly used these:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsz0lNJ6JrQ
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asTDsKLVexA

For the 12V fan mod, I've used this one:

Good tip there, I'm sure it could help lots of 360 owners. Would have been better had you supplied some links showing how it's done though. I'm sure there's probably pictorial guides on it by now.

BTW, lend is the giving end of something borrowed. In other words he lent you the 360, not borrowed it to you.

Yeah, I know. I was too busy with the fix itself that I didn't bother providing links. But there are tons of Tutorials and YouTube Clips showing how to open-up the console and apply the X-clamp fix and the 'pennies' trick. And anyone who's interested, I'll gladly offer help and advice...

don't be embarrassed, English is a very screwed up language. I know people born and raised here that make the same mistake, and have a worse command of the language than you do.
The path to universal understanding starts here: Say what you mean, and mean what you say.

    That's OK. I'm not embarassed, I'm learning that's all.

Maybe I should have used another emoticon...

Congrats! It's an easy enough fix, but not everyone is brave enough to do it!

Thanks!!! Yeah, the fix was quite easy, even though I might admit it was a bit scarry to do it. But anyway, I had nothing to lose as the console was dead already.

I'm not sure if I can make a Step-by-Step turotial, as I didn't take any pictures during the process. Actually I've just followed some tutorials over the Internet:

For the X-Clamp fix, I've mainly used these tutorials:
    http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/...hp?f=198&t=511
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZbuwtXdpvw
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcyYG...eature=related

For the 'Pennies Trick' fix, I've mainly used these:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsz0lNJ6JrQ
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asTDsKLVexA

For the 12V fan mod, I've used this one:
    http://www.instructables.com/id/Xbox-360-12v-fan-mod/

I'll also change the title of this thread and ask Scott to make it a sticky.

    Hope this helps...
