    Default Bjorn3D 3DMark05 Top 20

Ok, thought it might be neat to see how everyones system fared with Futuremark's latest and greatest. Post up your 3DMark05 scores here and I'll make a list of the Top 20 from the Bjorn3D forums.

Test must be ran at stock 1024x768, no AA, to keep it a level playing field. No need to link to your Futuremark stats, I trust everyone here. Please include your Overall Score, and your overall CPU Score. Ranking will be based on Overall Score. Also, post up your system if you feel like it.

List will be updated randomly throughout the day.

B jones dont bother, the record is 7777 on the ORB with an overcklocked XT PE.

hehe to bad that a 6800 Ultra SLI system is beaten by a single XT PE

get the feeling that the ATi drivers are optimzed "just a little bit"

Now I'm going to have to waste time tonight trying to get the highest score I can!

    I've felt that pain before.

Yep, you've discovered the ugly truth from first hand experience Gray, they've pulled out all the stops with this one. NO backward compatability whatsoever. If you're hardware isn't fully DX9 compliant, with hardware support for Pixel Shaders up to 2.0 then it's a no go and won't run at all.

Cheap DX9 Upgrade? 9600XT works well enough in my rig for Doom3 and Counterstrike Source. Seems to work well enough even the the Half-life stress test. There are other options of course and if you're willing to wait a while longer, there'll be all kinds of price drops coming up too. Unfortunately the hardware we buy today probably won't run 3DMark07 or whatever they'll call it. Endless cycle.

If you're happy with your gaming performance for now, keep the 8500 and wait for the ever eventual price cuts and get the best thing you can afford.

On the other hand, if you're dying to see what ~1500 3DMarks looks like, you could go with a Radeon9600XT. I couldn't find anything better locally than the AIW9600XT, that I thought would both 'do the trick' and fit my meagher budget.

Jones, what is ur CPU? I tested my BFG 5900XT OC with an Athlon 2200+ and 1GB of ram, with a KT333 based board. I would think that the 5900XT should be able to beat a R9600XT, but ya never know!

    Guess not huh?

I agree that probably the processor makes a large difference.

I'm using the extremely affordable XP2500+ OC to XP3200+ speeds. It's running at an FSB of 207. I suspect it could go further though I haven't tried it. I find it plenty fast for everything, though a shiny new Socket 939 motherboard and Athlon64 3500+ would sure be sweet!
