re: Bjorn3D 3DMark05 Top 10
Downloaded, installed, rebooted...killed some misc' prcesses and ran the benchmark. I have lots of room for tweaking. I set my ram timings too high a lil' while back and it reset my bios. I did just enough to get things back up and running but no speed tweaks and no overclocks.
I tried to submit my results but the connection failed.
3DMark 05 score 2052, CPU 3264

re: Bjorn3D 3DMark05 Top 10
hi,
when I disabled the HT the scores actually dropped.
also new drivers upped the score quite a bit.
HT allows the CPU to work and run the GPU.
my guess is the A64 3200 is having to choose between it doing the work and delegating it to the GPU.
the HT Intels don't have that "problem"
what happens if you up the priority on the GPU in windows task manager? (make sure u don't crash the system)
when that Alienware w/ P4 3.6 is out of warranty, apparently they can go up to 4.0 quite happily if you got a good one.
but on Intel's web site they nearly got busted by the P4 3.4
makes me think its the first batch of 4.0's underclocked as everybody knows the first yields are not so hot. and its exactly 10% below 4.0
Ghidora, you folding on that rig?
its good for over 10,000 points per month.
still can't believe the X800XT PE beat a SLI combo, NVidia must need to badly update their drivers. (or they messed up-again)
does memory affect the overall and teh CPU score?
see they're up to 675Mhz DDR2 now!
my piggy bank said ni!

Holy smolly, it gets weirder by the minute. I just ran it on my 2500+@ 2.034Ghz & 9600 @555/224 system and got 1,169 Overall / CPU=3,161

Wow, Lynx. I agree. It's too weird...but your CPU scores compared to mine and DI's might seem just as weird...

my 1022/2066 score is also pretty damn low, but it seems to fit in with the scores other 5xxx stuff is getting.

As in it's low or high? I think that personally my A64-2800+ scores pretty well IMHO - 3,587 @ stock speeds and 4,092 @2.02Ghz.Your A64 score...
Compared to ur guys stuff it's ripping and I don't know y. Setup, RAM, Tweaking who knows? I'm just reporting what it gives me. I'm running SP2 that's about the only diff I c between us. I'll take a couple screen shots next time I run it w/ CPUZ up as well.

I meant that yours is surprisingly higher scoring....don't worry I believe you. It's just a little surprising and frustrating...you know...

Well I have been complimented and known for my AMD set up skills since I got into AMD about 1 1/2 years ago. My 2500+ systems consistantly beat higher speed CPU's of bothAMD and Intel. Dunno if maybe it could b my RAM, right now it's running @225 w/ timings of 6,2,2,2. If u want something freakier I ran 05 this afternoon and got a CPU score of 4,382 (which I of course took a SS of), then w/out shutting the benchie prog down I re-ran it and got 4,675

re: Bjorn3D 3DMark05 Top 10
hi,
deleted unnecessary tasks, like UPS.exe, which writes every 2 seconds, and ran.
5100/4550 w/fps 23/14.1/26.2 cpu 2.4/3.8 (in details tab)
then, as P4 w/HT 3.2 has 1MB L2 cache, re-ran as expected pre-fetch to hit almost 100%
5086/4901 w/fps 23.1/13.9/26.2 cpu 2.8/3.9
the video card hit 62C temp, so its no wonder it slowed down.
will install new bios and catalyst tonight and re-run.
saved files but don't know how to screen capture, and free version won't open files.

re: Bjorn3D 3DMark05 Top 10
well, I think even for most site's benchmark are done with clean windows installation without any background software and unneed drivers. So, we have to realize the benchmark that we run are not exactly according to the review sites. Our system all got tons of background softwares running and maybe lots of junk drivers, softwares, etc. So we usually should get lower score. If we really want to be exact compare just basic system, then we all should do a clean installation and run the benchmark.
You guys are so lucky to know what's your system's performance, Man, I really need to get a good card to run my system. Can't even run 3dmark05 due to super old graphic card.

Not sure why I don't score higher on the gfx. Must be the 61.77 drivers.

re: Bjorn3D 3DMark05 Top 10
Okay, looks like I can bump Krome off the list
and take over the 10 spot with these updated scores:
2581/3766
This is with the same system as before, but now it has the Gigabyte 6800 that I'm currently reviewing in it.
Still a bit disappointing. ATi boards definitely own this benchmark, especially on the low end... [/b]There is nothing more frightening than active ignorance. - Goethe
