1968 hurst/Olds 442, with a 455 big block. I have not heard the term "Executive hot rod" in 20yrs. Guess I am starting to show my age.

They may not be "forgotten" but I still like the style of the Shelby GT350 and 500's!
Plus the 66 Mustang with the 289 Hi-Po was a pretty sharp looking car too!

The also called 'em "Bankers Hotrods," especially since in the early years you could only get the most powerful engines in the fullsize line.

The 1974 AMC Matador X Coupe 401 also rates a mention. Only officially available with the 4bbl 401 for one year. The engine put out 255 bhp net and was used in a lot of cop cars. Could get into the 15s, not bad for a mid '70s intermediate.

Did AMC ever do anything besides Penske/Donohue with the Matador?

While a Ford fan I did like the 70s El Camino SS (muscle truck? )

They did make both the Gremlin and the Pacer with a V-8. There was also the SC/Rambler, V-8 Hornet and Matadors.

Not really muscle as such, but you got to hand it to the Dave Kent built Monroe Handlers for being the snazziest Mustang IIs of all time.

I had a 74 coupe that was nothing but a POS but it was my first car.
I always did wish for either a fastback or one of the Cobra II's .
Hell my 74 Maverick was a far better car than the coupe ever was.

    No not a Grabber.
Just your run of the mill 200 straight six!
I can't recall all the times that MII POS broke down on me.
This one had one of Ford's first V-6 and it would get hot on me and then the starter would quit and it almost swore me off of V-6's in general.
I'd hate to think how many starters we put in that POS, plus a tranny.
One time I was on my way to town and the car just up and dies on me.
I'm like What the F is going on now.
Get it off the side of the road the entire distributor housing has completely snapped in two and it causes the cap to spin around as far as the wires would let it turn.
I'll have to say the V-6 in my 95 Ranger been nothing short of the best running motor I've ever had in a car next to that old staright six in my mav.

My first up close encounter with the MII was helping a lady and her daughter that were stranded on the side of the road. I appeared that the water pump housing had busted open....either that or the shaft driving it broke!

What did anyone expect. It was on the same chassis as the Pinto. I once had an 80 Pinto that I was going to drop a V8 in from a MII, but got tired of trying to track down parts. This is the car that I had the shift linkage (inside the tranny) break because of a 10 cent roll pin.
