Hi guys
Need your help with the heat control setting. I want to use my 5850 for folding but the temp are just insanely high. How can I cut the gpu usage by 50 - 60% to reduce heat? Im not sure I got the right settings. It doesn't seem to work.

thanks

are you running any overclock on it?
if so then reduce the clock. as for the heat control i haven't used it so i don't know. The path to universal understanding starts here: Say what you mean, and mean what you say.

You can also try MSI Afterburner or AMD Overdrive to monitor gpu heat and ajust onboard fan automatically.

whichever you use try turning the fan to 100% first. I can't give advice on clocking an ATI card as i have never owned one. on my nvudia cards i turned up the shader clocks and turned down the core clocks this gave me just enough temp wiggle room to keep my cards maxed for folding.

Oh by the way I read it here.
http://fahtracker.com/manual.html
I should have restarted. The last time i didn't restarted. Now I'm just waiting if it really worksHeat Control works by running the client until it downloads a WU, then restarting it with the desired FAH_GPU_IDLE setting for the WU. The desired value can be set on the Heat Control tab in the configuration window. There are three filters you can set for each GPU client, project, points, and default. The more specific rules override the less specific ones. So a WU matching a project rule will use that rule even if it also matches a points rule, and a WU matching a points rule but no project rules will use the points rule. The default rule is used for any WUs that don't match a project or points rule.
