I have always been a heavy armor two hand warrior. I trot around in a full set of enchanted Daedric armor (legendary) with a Daedric Greatsword (two hand 100). Needless to say, that is why it is easy for me lol. Like I said though, I always play TES games like that with using very little magic. The only mods I use are texture mods so actual game play isn't touched which is the way I like it. I only start messing with gameplay after I have played through it several times.

Yeah I have like 9 extra dragon bones in case I want to make some Dragonplate armor, but I'm toying with the idea of making Daedric instead. Oddly enough on the way to slay some dragons for more dragon armor parts a couple days ago, I stumbled upon a corpse that happened to have a Daedric heart. Of course it will take several to make a set of Daedric armor, but it's a start.

I was perusing the skills options and there's a lot of powers you can employ without even enchanting items or using potions and spells. I'm thinking of getting the Elemental Shield perk when I get my Blocking skill up higher. Those female bandits with chain lightning staffs really do a number on you at master level. I'm fairly balanced in player skills though. I chose Nord Warrior, but I've built up my sneak and pickpocket skills pretty good, so if I encounter a couple tough enemies, I can always hide then sneak up on them and assassinate them with one strike.

The only gameplay affecting mod I've even considered was one I saw that makes ore veins a bit easier to see, but I passed on it because I don't like taking the time to mine vs steal or buy ore. Sounds like you play with the same basic strategy as me. I don't care to be running around acting like an all powerful wizard either, and rationing and restocking potions and spells would be a hassle anyway. I've considered enchanting some items, but I'll only do that if I feel its necessary.

I enchanted because it makes my armor stats much higher. I actually did the whole mining, hunting for leather and all that. Took me a good 1-2 days straight to get my smithing to 100. I could easily fill you in on some exploits. Also, for me Daedric armor has always been a higher value than Dragon plate, plus I think it looks cooler (always use Daedric armor in each game).

Basically the way I play is try to get the best heavy armor, best two handed weapon, train and combat as much as I can to raise my heavy armor and two hand stats (and in this case smithing, sneaking, and archery) then just go boss it through the game. I got this technique from constant leveling I used to do in the FF turn based games. This is the first TES game that I have taken an interest in archery because the perks are kind of nice. There also some things that you want to pick off from a distance, plus dragons are in the air.

Yeah I don't pay for skill training much, unless the trainer is positioned so I can easily pickpocket the fee back. Had fun doing that with Aela in the Companion camp for Archery training. It got even more interesting when doing it to the Pickpocket trainer at Windhelm, despite her standing with the ring of people at someone's grave, including one guard. High Pickpocket skills are handy.

Just got my Block up to 100. I found that Mammoths are far better than Giants for power leveling it. I was getting 3 or 4 skill points per health drain. I now have the Deflect Arrows, Deadly Bash, and Elemental Protection perks. The only other skills I really want to level right now is One Handed, so I can dual wield, and Pickpocket, so I can get Extra Pockets, which allows you to carry 100 more in weight.

I need to get back to leveling something that's fun anyway. I'm getting a bit burned out on leveling skills that involve repetitious tedium. Leveling Pickpocket is cool. You get nice valuable rewards when you do and it's fun to sneak around trying to stay undetected. I'm not going to even bother building or leveling Heavy Armor unless I need to.

Saw another elder dragon on my way to one of the bigger thieves guild missions and felt a bit under equipped for the battles within it. Lots of Draugr Deathlords and a Dragon Priest, OMG. Then again, maybe I'm leveling up too high for the gear I'm using. I'm level 46 now.

I managed without magicka, enchanting, or even any potion taking, but I had to use a lot of shouting, attacking and retreating to recover. There was a cool room with a ledge to bow snipe from though that I lockpicked my way into. It was handy going in and when foes followed me when retreating.

I'm starting to realize if you want to play on master with no magicka or enchanting, you do in fact need something like daedric armor and powerful daedric or ebony weapons. Don't know what you mean by daedric armor has always been better than dragon plate though. Isn't this the first ES with dragons?

I'm really getting in a zone with my sneaking, pickpocketing and silent assassinations though. Going into the Dwemer museum was quite fun. Left a trail of throat slit corpses. I may take a break and start collecting ebony and daedric hearts to build better gear. I've yet to see any daedric weapons in my looting though.

Seems like when I was finally able to make Daedric armor I was able to make the weapons also.
Finding the hearts is a pain although Enthir in the College of Winterhold sells them though.

It's not horribly bad. I lucked out and found a heart on a corpse just lying out in broad daylight near the western watch tower by Whiterun earlier in the game. I also just found another on the quest to get the Forgemaster's Fingers gauntlets for the Orc chief near Gloombound mine, and that was on a shelf not a corpse, so I assume it can always be found on that mission. That's a great mission too. It can be a pain if you try to approach Morvunskar head on, but if you get creative it's a great stealth mission.

I've read you can also get 3 hearts on the Shrine of Azura mission, which I have queued up, but not completed. That combined with the two Enthir sells should get me enough for a full set of Daedric armor and two weapons. I'm more concerned about getting the required smithing perks unlocked. I'm at player level 46 and it's getting a LOT slower to get to the next level each time.

My only problem with the Find the Forgemaster's Fingers mission was shortly after getting the quest, an ancient dragon attacks the Orc camp. I was on my way to just mine some ebony and wasn't geared up for fighting such a dragon, and when I tried to enter the Orc camp I saw a Failed the Forgemaster's Fingers message. Thinking it was due to entering their camp before earning their trust by getting the gauntlets, I went onward to do the quest.

When I got back I found that damn dragon was still raiding their camp and the failed message was from the Orc chief getting killed by it, but only if I went near the chief or dragon. What followed was several attempts to on the fly gear up to kill it before it could kill him, to no avail. I was doing my best to distract it away from him, but I hadn't even improved my Dragonscale armor yet.

I ended up dropping difficulty from master to novice, and at first even that was hard. The dragon took damage faster, but the chief seemed to die even easier. Finally I distracted it at just the right time and drew it's attention away from the chief while other Orcs joined in attacking it. It died fairly quickly.

Then I found out the only real perk to handing in the gauntlets is being able to buy an ebony sword from their smither that I'd already looted elsewhere. Whatever, I thought they'd at least have some daedric weapons. I can appreciate the somewhat random feel of dragons spawning here and there, but they shouldn't be allowed to so easily interfere with quests.

If that Orc chief would have just responded while the dragon was around and allowed me to hand him the gauntlets, or followed me to cover after he himself gave a fall back order, none of it would have happened. He could have easily taken refuge inside his fort barracks, but no, he stands out in the open trying to take on a lvl 50 dragon after yelling fall back. Most of the time it landed in front of him and ate him.

The game is good, but at times so frustrating.

For me Daedric armor initially has a higher armor rating than Dragonplate then after enchantments and the sheer awesomeness of the look I never looked back. You can get the 2 hearts from Enthir for 800 a piece, fast travel, fast travel back, and keep doing that till you get the amount you need.

Well I had slain some more dragons so I had enough scales and finally improved my Dragonscale armor. With the all light armor and matching set perks, combined with minor squire ring and amulet, it rates about 703 currently, and that's with no enchantments. Not bad for light armor, esp since I also have the perk where it adds no weight to your inventory and doesn't affect your stamina.

I went to the college at Winterhold and upped my level enough to add another perk via training for alteration (and having fun looting the fee back). I added Dwarven to smithing, so I'm on my way to adding Daedric smithing if I want, but I can't help think I'm wasting perks. Maybe I should have upped my one handed some more. I have 4/5 Armsman, but only 1/3 hack and slash, which adds extra bleeding damage to the war axe, which is my primary weapon. I'm not sure whether the bleeding damage applies to all enemies though.

I can't help but think daedric armor at this point is a waste of time for me, since I'll also have to build my heavy armor perks. I just took on an ancient dragon after exiting the college with very little help and minimal cover, so the improved dragonscale armor and elemental block protection is fairing well. The trip to the excavation with the college prof DID still involve a bit of retreating, but I've yet to experiment with my newly upgraded shouts, like Inferno.

I'll no doubt make it to player level 50, being 47 currently, but I'll have to train at the magicka skills to do it, even if I don't want to use them.

If you already have a high level light armor then I see no point in going heavy unless you absolutely just want to. Heavy armor is my thing, so obviously that was the first thing I went for.

Yeah, well, I may have wasted that skill point on the Dwarven smithing. There's always a way to avoid having to arm yourself to the hilt it seems. I went into Azura's Star to get those 3 Daedra hearts I'd read about, and at first I thought I was WAY under equipped to do it on Master. I managed though. Funny thing is, I'm now wondering if the star itself is worth more to me than the hearts, unlimited soul filling, and I only have to kill simple, easy creatures like Mudcrabs, Wolves, etc to refill it.

I made a little vid of the trip inside the star while testing out some new gear I bought, being a Panasonic TC-L32U3 TV and Yamaha RX-V371 receiver. I also got a Panasonic DMP-BD75 Blu-ray player. I'd not yet figured out how to get the res I wanted to use to fit the screen (720p until I get a better GPU). So despite the res almost being 720p the YouTube viewer will only play it at 480p. I may get around to rerecording it tomorrow in 720p. Details in the description.

Skyrim HD Texture pack on Steam now. Looks like 3GB of goodness. Suppose I was right, and it doesn't even appear to be a DX11 overhaul 0_0
