actually i lost my patience, got frustrated, and grabbed a sawzall. No, i'm not kidding.
this is a low budget mod. i'd have to buy a plasma cutter so it wasn't even considered. so far I have spent $0 on this. and it's almost done.The path to universal understanding starts here: Say what you mean, and mean what you say.

ok I forgot I don't have photoshop on this system, and i'm not using paint (I hate paint). so the full version will be posted this weekend. instead I'll just skip to (almost) the end. and post a pic of the completed housing. I will at some point work on the cosmetics of the system. but it's gonna wait till I have every thing else done. that fan hole is now hidden. the thumbnail is the box.

I wish i knew some one with a band saw. that would have made short work of it.
BTW overkill=using something that renders your part unsalvagable. like if I had fired up the cutting torch for this. or went at it with a cold chisel. (I did use a wood chisel at one point
)

it did, and worked very well while giving me an acurate cut. like I said it's what I should have started with.
if i ever cut a steel case in half again that's what I'll use. for aluminum, I'll stick to my dremmel. and the grinder is too big to cut fan holes with.The path to universal understanding starts here: Say what you mean, and mean what you say.
